Well, it happened to me. Hubby mentioned getting a dog, the four of us all took compatibility tests online to find the perfect breed-we all got perfect match for goldens!-the boys started pushing for a puppy, more research was done, a breeder we liked was found, and now I am one of THOSE people.
The kind who show strangers pictures of their dog on their phone and spend hours online reading about everything from the perfect food (SO stressful!), to vitamins, to crate training, to house training and beyond. And today I did Black Friday shopping online for a puppy we don't even have yet.
I can't help myself!!!
Hi everyone-so glad to join your community. I have already gleaned much wisdom from these boards and am thankful you all take the time to share the ups and downs and lessons learned along the journey with your precious goldens.
Our sweet baby girl, named Thelma Lou, will be coming home with us in a little over two weeks. We are working hard to be ready for her and I do think we may be a little crazy to be bringing a puppy home in the middle of the Christmas season but we are sooooo excited to get her here!
I'll post some pictures when I find my phone. She's adorable.
Welcome to the forum...full of those people! There's no better type of person to be! Congratulations on your new puppy, exciting times, can't wait to see her photos!
And my husband's in the Army-I told him he should probably just take his blues to work and leave them there if he wants to wear them regulation (pet hair free).
Funny!
We are all just so excited-I'm sure our friends are getting sick of us already. And we keep going to visit her since we aren't far from the breeder. They'll probably be so glad when they are rid of us!
Your surrounded by "those People"....
Most of us could go on and on talking about our Goldens..
They are a wonderfull breed and since we own 2 females,
We gotta say that Goldens are the greatest of God's creatures on 4 feet.
Thanks! We tossed around names for a couple of weeks before settling. We kind of suggested it as a joke (we are big Andy Griffith Show fans and Thelma Lou is Barney Fife's girlfriend) because we wanted a "southern" sounding name, and it grew on all of us.
I chuckle every time I imagine us calling out her name....
Barneysgirl, I'm sitting here laughing about getting a puppy during the Christmas season. In my mind's eye, your Christmas tree is in a playpen (people have done it!) to protect Thelma Lou from dangerous ornaments, tinsel, etc. Enjoy your darling little girl and get ready for the roller coaster
Welcome to the forum! Thelma Lou is adorable. Just think of all the great photo ops that you'll have with a new puppy at Christmas...not that any of us need excuses to take pics of our puppies.
Christmas is a great time for a puppy just no glass ornaments lights or tinsel on the lower part of the tree.Welcome:wavey: On here you're one of many of "those"You haven't even stated to be in love with them.My neighbor came into my "cave" the other day & said you have all these pictures of the dogs & none of Andie(my daughter) I just laughed but after seeing Golden4 lifes thread I'm putting one up down here tomarrow.Keep us posted can't wait to see her come home!!!!!
what a sweetheart! I know how you feel, I'm in the same boat. I just started posting here a few weeks ago. I am all about my dog, I love her already so much and we have three weeks till we bring her home! I look forward to your photos! It is nice there are so many of us with pups around the same age!
Glad to have you here on the forums. Your pup is gorgeous and is going to be keeping you very busy for the next few months. Be sure to keep your camera handy as there is no such thing as too many puppy pictures and you will kick yourself in six months if you do not capture enough of them in that first month. Please make yourself at home here and share lots of pictures.
