| Hello from Texas everyone I hope everyone from the east is recovering. My mother in law lives in Ocean City NJ and her condo is going to be out of service fo her until the elevator mecanics are reparied. She cannot climb the 7 flights to her condo so she is staying with her daughter in Maryland. It saddens me that such a beautiful area that is our 2nd home is facing such a crisis. Having grown up on the Gulf Coast and been a EMT volunteer for over 25 years I know the heartbreak and pain of the people there. Our preyers are with all of you. We volunteer with a Golden Retriever rescue here in the DFW area. If anyone knows of any Goldens that need relocating. my husband works for Southwest Airlines. I can get a standby flight and make a round trip flight and bring one at a time down here. In a later post I will tell you all about our rescue Retriever. It's an amazing story. Love and kisses to all the 4 pawed babies. Nothing better than a puppy kiss. Anne |

I recently read in one of the NY rags that Rachel Ray is donating $500,000 for the displaced pets that were affected by Sandy. Southwest, you and Rachel Ray get a big pat on the back!

| The affected areas were well prepared plus the shelters accepted pets for the first time. All 4 major NY newspapers have run articles for the most part that have happy endings. A few days ago dozens of dogs and cats and parrots were flown to California to be adopted out. They were from Brooklyn, North Shore and Statten Island shelters.

| Welcome, great to have you here and your very generous offer to help Goldens in need. Perhaps you could contact the area Golden Retriever Rescues too to see if they need assistance. Here is a link to the National Listing of GR Groups. National Rescue Committee of the Golden Retriever Club of America The ASPCA along with several other Rescue Groups have also been helping animals in the NY and NJ areas. I posted a story in the Happy Pet Stories Thread- http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/...stories-6.html (Happy Pet stories.) Here's a link to the ASPCA's Blog that is also updating their work to help animals and families affected by Hurricane Sandy. Breaking News: Hurricane Sandy | ASPCA Blog |
