Hi, my name is Darlin and my family just lost our beloved...handsome man..SAMMY.
He died suddenly Saturday Oct. 12.
It was horrible and a devastating experience...I am struggling with his passing and never have grieved so heavily for one of my pets.
Sammy truly was unique and special...he really was the best dog ever...ever.
I don't know how to heal from losing him.

You have stumbled upon the place that has, sadly, many members that understand your pain. I am saddened every time I see a post like this as so many of us are. If you have pictures of Sammy please share with us. How old was you buddy?

Welcome to our forum I am sorry it is under such a sad circumstance you found us.
Please also post in our Rainbow Bridge section.

Welcome, I am so sorry for your loss of Sammy. I'm also sorry you have found us under such sad circumstances.

There is a Rainbow Bridge section if you'd like to make a tribute to Sammy, tell us about him and post pictures of him. There's also a Grief Section-too many of us have used them both after the loss of our beloved Goldens.

A lot of us understand what you are going through, I am one of them unfortunately.

All I can say is, take it one day at a time, give yourself time to grieve and let your heart heal. Our Goldens are so very special and bring so much love and joy into our lives. Sometimes we don't realize just how much they mean to us until they are no longer with us.

For me, part of the healing process was to bring another Golden into my life. I adopted a Golden boy from my County Humane Society a few weeks after I lost my 15.5 year old boy over 1.5 years ago. He helped us heal more than we ever realized or thought possible. It was a win, win situation for him and us. He needed a home and we needed him to bring joy back into our lives.

Another dog can never replace the one that has passed, but you may see some similarities. I know I see a lot of my bridge boy in my new boy and I can't help but smile.

I hope with time you will find peace.

Thank you...I appreciate your kind words and I am so glad to have found this website. I cannot get myself to come to gross that Sammy is truly gone...I'm constantly looking for him,.along with my other dog Maggie....she is depressed and lays where Sam passed away....Sammy was 10 and Maggie is 13....in the last 2 weeks she has aged tremendously and I'm scared she will follow....and I can't cope with losing both my dogs so close together.
I am looking for another golden..but here in Seattle it's hard to find a golden that's not a puppy. I would love another male older than 1 yr.
I would LOVE my bubba back....

When I lost my bridge boy 1.5 years ago, my golden girl was grieving his passing as much as we were. She is a former puppy mill momma that will always need to be with another dog. She was very depressed, started withdrawing, I knew I had to get another one as soon as possible for her sake before we lost all the progress we'd made with her.

I found a 2 yr. old male at my County Humane Society that was in need of a home and adopted him two weeks after having lost our boy. It was a win win situation for us all. He needed a home and a family, and we needed lots of love and joy back in our lives. He has helped our girl tremendously.

If you are interested in adopting, I suggest you go to Petfinder.com to see available Goldens in your area in Shelters and also Rescue Groups.
