I'm just seeing your thread so a big belated welcome to you!! I've seen your posts in other threads and I feel as though I already know you!

I've been in your shoes, waiting for a puppy, only to have the Momma dog reabsorb the litter. It's very disheartening and I felt a keen sense of loss. Until it happened I never knew that this type of thing does happen and isn't just a theoretical possibility. I'm glad you got the confirmation of pregnancy for this litter and I will keep fingers crossed that the momma has a healthy delivery for these puppies! It's exciting!

I'm so sorry what happened to you before but it sounds as though everything ended well, which I'm hoping it will for us too. Even though we loved our first dog so much, we had such bad luck with him and his health problems that I think my husband and I are scared that we are destined for a lifetime of bad luck with dogs, so when we were supposed to get a dog of course the litter reabsorbed. But, I do sometimes try to believe that everything happens for a reason and health of our future puppy is so important and this new litter comes from parents with a long list of clearances, although I know that doesn't 100% guarantee anything, but it does make me feel better.

She's set to have a c-section in a little less than 4 weeks so until then my fingers, toes and anything else I can cross will be crossed, very tightly!

I am first seeing your post and WELCOME TO YOU!! So very sorry about Monte and praying that your little Golden is born soon and healthy!!

My Hubby and I have always had RESCUE Golden Rets. We adopted our Smooch from Golden Ret. Rescue when she was 16 months old and she was 12 when she went to the Rainbow Bridge. Such a WONDERFUL and loving girl!
We adopted Tucker, who needed a home, from this forum, at almost 2 years old and he is 4 years old now. He and my Tonka, Samoyed Male, who is 3 adore one another!!

So...my nervousness, anticipation and anxiety is starting to REALLY kick in.

I had a dream last night that I was in Hawaii with my family (which is happening in January) and the breeder called and said that there was only one dog left, and she was trying to decide between us and someone who showed dogs. She said she wanted me to write down, in detail, our training and showing plans. I reminded her that we don't show dogs and are only getting him for a pet....and then I woke up!

The 18th really cannot come fast enough....I know right now no news from the breeder is good news but the waiting is so hard! I don't want to start preparing for fear that I will jinx it, although I did buy a pet bed the other day but kept winking at my husband and saying I was getting it for our cats. I did ask the breeder if we will find out on the 18th if we are for sure getting a dog, and I think she said as long as there are a couple of males in the litter, we should be getting one (although we are first or maybe second pick but anyone who wants to show dogs comes first).

Anyways though, I just wanted to share my anticipation and anxiety, and I am sure you all can relate! I am literally counting down the days and crossing fingers...

Hang in there...with 10+ puppies in the oven your odds are excellent.

True, but of course I've seen so many posts on here that say the X-ray or ultrasound was inaccurate, and that's not helping my anxiety. Although, the breeder did tell me that both the mom and grandmother of this particular girl all had large litters. And it is a planned c-section and I'm under the assumption that more babies survive this way (but I could be wrong). I'm also wondering how many boys vs girls will be in the litter....

As you can see...I'm trying to make myself feel better. My husband is the optimistic one, I'm not, so that's a good compliment.

And I do really appreciate your optimism and it does make me feel better!

Thank you both so so so very much! We have one week and one day to go...and I am getting so anxious! Every night I am either having a dream about talking to the breeder or about Monte. It's hard to dream about Monte and it makes me sad and it also makes me feel guilty. Monte had what I called "only child syndrome" and would get jealous whenever I would even pet one of our cats, and so I'm sure he wouldn't be too thrilled with us getting another dog, so it does make me feel guilty. The last litter we were waiting for reabsorbed, and the breeder called me about a week before the due date to tell me, so I'm also hoping that doesn't happen again. I feel like I am holding my breath until the 18th...hopefully I can breath after that!

Your thoughts and well wishes mean SO much to me! Hopefully I can update with good news on the 18th!
