Hello. I have a little golden boy who is 3 1/2 months. I was wondering when is too old for having accidents in the house? I bought the spot and odor cleaner and also bought a spray to deter him from going in the same spot but no luck. We put up a bell and he does ring it a lot but still goes in the house. A lot of times he will go and then ring it. Also he likes to nip at our hands and feet. I could use some advice. Thank you!

Bailey still tinkles in the house - no poo but lots of tinkle - I watch her like a hawk and I still miss it and she doesn't think nothing about it.. I keep her on a leash and crate her and and take her out and try to strengthen her bladder but I guess it just takes time.

We have an 8 month old, male, golden, our first one and we crate trained him. We would watch him like a hawk and we would take him out right after he ate and right when he woke up from his naps and lots of praise for going potty outside. I think he was around 3-4 months when he really figured out to go outside but we still watched him. The biting and nipping is normal, he still does it when he gets really excited but it is much better than it used to be. I was wondering what I got myself into for awhile because he was so crazy.

Your little boy is adorable! My girls took a while. They will be a year next week...and I just started feeling comfortable with the fact that they won't have accidents when I am not looking. They didn't tinkle much in the house...but if they didn't go out to poo after dinner...they'd leave me a surprise! Every dog is different...some dogs potty train lightning fast...and some just take a while. Be consistent...that's my best advice...I noticed any slip from the routine caused accidents.... Good luck! Oh and Abby was a little crazy nipper! That's normal. He'll figure out it's not ok. We just kept firm when she'd do that. She only tries to do a little nip if super excited...but a firm "no" stops it immediately. Consistency is sooo important...when training your fur kid.

He is definitely too little to expect him to not have accidents. Take him out more often, try to time it so you take him out before the accident happens. If he has accidents every 20 minutes, take him out every 15 mintues, etc. Make sure you give a treat and lots of happy praise when he potties outside.

Using his teeth on you is totally, 100% normal. Keep lots of toys in reach to put in his mouth when he starts to go for skin, and praise him when he grabs the toy.

He is just a baby still, you will have accidents and mouthing you for several more months before he start to learn what you want.
