Bought a ham bone chew treat dog bone as an impulse buy at the super market today.. It is made by S&S Inc (Butchers Bone) from OK.
I am so stupid watching a TV show after I gave her the bone NOT directly supervising her while she was chewing on the bone. She had it for about 20 minutes and managed to eat **** near the whole thing. There was like a 3 inch peice lef of the middle of the bone. She ate and swallowed everything else, both end are completely gone.
Well after this I looked at the packadge not knowing if it was meant to be ingested, of course its not. And after looking at the packadge it warns of splintering and says dont give to big dogs or aggressive chewers. I guess its meant for little dogs. Anyways I do a web search for this product and a couple forums pop up where this bone and brand and others like it have ended up killing dogs. Hundreds of dogs have died and even more with intenstial blockage, er vet trips, and sick dogs.
I am so mad at myself and worried for my dog after reading this.. Right now she is fine she just drank a lot of water and is now sleeping its been about 4 hours since she ate the bone. If she has any vomiting or wimpering or runny poop were going to the vet in the morning or tonight ER i dont care im flat broke but Ill pay on credit. THIS SUCKS.. Potential “Real Ham Bone” Danger
thats a link to the forum with the horror stories. Anybody have support, stories, or advice on what to do? I will never make this mistake again and she will probably be fine but I am hella worried about my dog
