Looking for a dog bed

I'm in the market for a nice and durable bed. I have bought two so far with no luck because my dog chews through them after a week or so. I'd like to find something stain resistant and washable. There are a few I saw on Ebay that advertised great qualities at a great price but I'm always weary of that kind of stuff. I think it's time to get her out of our bed and in to her own. She's becoming quite the bed hog.

I've seen some that are like a gore-tex material. Haven't tried them or know what brand but those might be best. I'm pretty sure they're water resistant too.

Kong makes one that is supposed to be chew-resistant.

IMO, Orvis has a great selection, great quality & the best customer service around. They are pricey though.

KURANDA!!!!!! (www.kuranda.com) Easily cleaned/disinfected, chewproof, good inside or out, and great for ortho problems. We have several and I will never buy anything else.

Nothing but Kuranda beds here. LOVE them. I have one in the house and just bought one of their slip covers for it - it looks great, and the dogs love it. The Kurandas that I have out in the kennel have held up for years already, and still look great. There is no better bed for the money, IMO.

I have a couple of Orvis beds. When I was on vacation this past summer I went to their flagship store in Manchester, VT and fell in love with the largest size ortho bed they make. I wanted the ortho dog bed for me! It was so comfy, and not too small. I wouldn't buy most of their beds if you want something durable for a chewer, though.

We love our LL Bean beds. They last forever and the covers can be taken off and put in the washing machine. Plus, LL Bean has a lifetime guarantee on all of their products, so they will replace it if anything ever happens to it.

What would be the best size kuranda bed for a standard sized golden? Thanks for all the input!

Their chart recommends an extra large for a golden, but I think our larger ones are larges. Even so, there is sometimes both a golden and springer curled up butt to butt. BTW, don't bother with their fleece covers... I bought one and it slid all over even with the ties done. I use a bath mat with the rubber backing... works great.
