Alright....

I knew when we got Leo in March that shedding would be a thing. But OH MY WORD! I didn't realize it would be THIS bad!

We brush him at least once a day, it the hair just keeps on coming! I have fur tumbleweeds all over the house, even though I vacuum every other day!! Thank God we don't have carpet!!!

Is this the typical shedding season or is this normal every day of the year? We should buy stocks in lint removers!! :grin2:

Sounds pretty typical! We're always surprised at how much hair there is despite daily brushing Summer and twice a week undercoat raking him (and despite him having a fairly flat coat as opposed to those luxurious thick and fluffy coats on some goldens). I always wonder why he isn't bald already from all that shedding. And we have carpet. I now joke that dog hair is my new accessory.
Someone told me goldens shed like this twice a year, once to get their summer coats in and once again to grow out their winter coats, but it looks like depending on where in the world you are, this is pretty much an everyday thing. For instance, we are in California, and the shedding has been like this for a few months now.

is Leo a puppy? he might just be losing his puppy fluff.

If he isn't, yes it's normal. Just today, I was rubbing Kaizer down and I could see the fur flying in the air.

You might vacuum him when you vacuum. It won't make a big difference the first week or two but then you will start to notice less hair.
I take the hard floor head off the vacuum and just use the piece at the end of the hose. My dogs all love the vacuum cleaner. Dont' grab any soft tissue naturally- avoid his testicles and penis and ears... but he will probably love the way it feels.

I just finished bathing and grooming Pebbles out side. The blower was blowing coat everywhere. Looked like a blizzard! :) I bet my neighbors gut a chuckle out of all the dog fur blowing out of our backyard, down the driveway out into the front yard when I groom our Goldens ... :D

Our guy is the same way, we vacuum every day, and with hardwood floors the fur really is tumbleweeds. I found a product, called Hands On, they are nitrile gloves, originally for grooming horses. Our dog loves them, the dog gets both a grooming and massage, with your hands. These gloves get volumes of fur, and need to be used outside. I would vacuum the dog, but he really doesn't like the noise the vacuum makes, so he won't cooperate.

Current dog was afraid of the vacuum when we first brought him home. I had to let him investigate it while it was off, then while it was on. After about twenty minutes, he decided it was a toy. It is impossible to vacuum with him around because he play bows, then pounces at the end piece, hopping around like a rabbit. He is completely in the way AND sends more fur flying. I'm sure he'd treat it like a squeaky toy if I tried to vacuum him. I do have to vacuum at least every other day because my floors are dark hardwoods and I can see every single hair. I would like to point out, however, that during our gap year of no dog, I had to vacuum EVERY day because my kids were suddenly leaving crumbs everywhere. I couldn't believe how much my last dog must have been licking up. He probably could have survived by scavenging alone. I'd much rather look at fur than crumbs!

I'm with you, I knew that spring shedding is bad but now it is the end of June and Foster is still shedding A TON. As in, clumps just fall off when he moves. As others have said, we really have to brush him once or twice a day and vacuum daily. My grandma has four goldens and I literally don't understand how she does it, if just one sheds this much!
