It took a few photo sessions, but I finally managed to get some pictures of Shala smiling. The one with the little tongue out just kills me. Why do such pretty dogs hate to have their pictures taken???

Just beautiful!! I can't even decide which one I like better, they're both gorgeous, in different ways.

OH MY GOODNESS! That first shot of her is my absolute favorite! She is so darling! I think you need to frame that one on your nightstand for sure :) I love keeping up with your sweet Shala. Thanks for sharing her photos - an p.s. I have lilac envy, we can't grow them in the south, it doesn't stay cold enough, long enough in the winter. Luckily I have gardenias blooming today to comfort me :)

The lilacs in Toronto are amazing. There is a tree at the bottom of my street, and every night, I turn onto it on my bike and just breeeeathe in the scent. I love them. It was really nice posing Shala in front of them there at the park. Even SHE lifted up her head and seemed to be inhaling a big snoot-ful of the lovely smell around her.

Great pictures of her! Thank goodness for the digital age of photography. I can remember going through a complete roll of 30 pictures. Then you had to wait for them to be developed before you knew if you got even 1 good picture out of the lot. :)
Hear, hear. I have literally thousands of shots of Shala. And maybe dozens of good ones! My last dog, most of her life was before the age of digital, and I have rolls and rolls of film with no good pictures of her. What I love most about digital is that you can see right away what you're doing wrong and fix it.

Great photos of a very beautiful girl! I love the contrast of the color of the lilacs and her coat. And I can almost smell those lilacs, one of my favorites!

For those whose dogs tend to get "squinty-eyed" like my Rosie does during picture taking, I've found something that helps. I have a little collection of squeakers she has removed from toys, and I'll hold one in my mouth and bite down on it quickly to make a squeak right when I'm taking the picture. It causes her to look up at me with a nice alert expression. If someone is watching it may look rather funny, but it gets the desired effect!

Beautiful, but you hit upon a very sore spot for me. I absolutely hate the camera on my new phone. It is so slow to focus and take the shot that the moment is long gone 90% of the time. If I want good results I set up my Canon with a remote trigger and flip the LCD towards me so I can get the frame right. If I'm behind the camera, Duffy will look away every time unless there's bacon involved.
