Looking for a Reputable Breeder

I live in Canada and I am looking for a reputable breeder with hopes of being able to get a puppy by the end of June... I know very little timing, since I don't live close to any breeders I will travel to get the puppy and I am willing to travel really anywhere in Canada or even to the east coast of the US if I can find the right breeder that will have puppies available in my hopeful time frame.

I have spent the past 2 weeks doing tons of research on different breeders in Canada (mainly Ontario) and have become very overwhelmed, most Canadian breeders seem to have massive waiting lists so I am wondering if the US will be a better place for me to start looking. I am looking for the more english type golden as I prefer a lighter cream or light gold coat but my main concern is finding the right breeder that has healthy puppies with a great temperament and breeds them for longevity.

You could try,

Goldnote, just north of Toronto https://goldenretrieversontario.com

Regal, west of Toronto Regal Goldens | British Type Golden Retriever | Golden Retrievers | English Style Golden Retrievers | Puppies

Dreamkeeper, in Muskoka area Dreamkeeper Goldens - Home of Exquisite English-style Golden Retrievers

Conquerer Goldens http://conquerergoldens.com

The Conquerer Website is full of valuable information about Golden Retrievers and choosing a puppy
definitely worth looking at.

Please make sure you check that all clearances are in order. You can also post litters you are interested in here,
and there are plenty of people that can help check or confirm clearances are in order.

Good luck with your puppy search.

I sent you a private message with Ontario breeders I would definitely avoid.

If you are looking for European pedigrees and lighter costs from reputable breeders, stay in Canada.

In the US these dogs are not competitive in the show ring so the number of good breeders working with European style is minuscule. What we do have is a plethora of profit breeders who don't do much with their dogs other than produce puppies. Knowledge of their lines and health certifications are so spotty that most people in the US looking for a good breeder will be referred to Canada to look. That may be part of the reason for the lists. Though you will find most good breeders will have large lists before puppies arrive. I have a litter due any day now and I know that I'd have to have 3 or 4 litters before I would have available pups.

In general Canadian breeders have been consistently working with European lines and it is not just a money grab fad. Also the Canadian standard allows cream so they are competitive in Canada. In the US our standard allows light Gold but penalizes extremely pale dogs. When I went to Italy to get my girl I was thrilled that she will have quite a bit of color for a dog of European lines since I do show. However, I also know that we are facing more challenges in the AKC ring because her color and style.

Laura and the Anasazi Golden Girls
Jinx, Tilt, Tizzy (the Italian) and Navy
