My golden just threw up a log of something....my first impression is that looked like grass. It was dark, It did not smell, was solid....looked like (not to be gross) a poop log....about 3 inches long. She does eat grass when out in the yard. This looked to be like something that was in her for a while as she just eats bits at a time and today had not eaten any grass that I know of.

I had given her some yougurt early in the day....this was not yougurt that she threw up. It was just one log with no liquid.

She acts normal happy self now like nothing happened. Should I still feed her her dinner? I hate to disappoint her as she loves her dinner! Thanks for any help here.

UPDATE: I went ahead and feed Lola. She seems just fine. Her happy saggy Smily self. I imagine she feels good getting that out of her stomach. Hopefully that will be it. I am going to try to stop her grass eating as much as I can.

If my dogs throw up ( and they have thrown up all kinds of things they have eaten ), I always still feed them their next meal. To me, seeing them eat is a positive sign. When my Brady had the blockage, the first symptom was he stopped eating, second was he vomited pieces of a face cloth.

Thanks for all the replies! Lola is just fine this morning and since regurgitating the... log...... so I guess it was just like a fur ball of stuff she had in her gut... rather amazing that she could eat and digest with that in her stomach for who knows how long.

Thank for posting this thread today. We have my one of my breeder's show dogs staying with us this weekend, a few hours ago my daughter freaked out because she threw up something unidentifiable - she brought it to me and says it looks like a hairball! Sure enough that is what it was.
