Cosmo at E-Vet, good thoughts needed, please
Cosmo got up about 3pm after a nap and had trouble with his rear legs. Tried to walk him, I thought maybe his leg feel asleep, but it got worse instead of better. He started crying, unusual for him. Called reg vet (5 min away) and was told to bring him in. Got there and the tech came out to the car and told us the vet didn't have time to see him. Huh!!!! So we drove 20 minutes to the emergency vet. Cosmo trembled and cried all the way there. The doctor there examined him and said she didn't think is was a problem with his leg, but more a reaction because of a toxin/poison of some kind. His heart rate was almost 260 and his temp was 105 when we got him there. They treated him for poisoning and cooled him off, etc. His heart rate came down to about 160 and his temp was coming down. He is staying there to be monitored. It is the same Vet that kept an eye on him after his gastropexy surgery, so I feel he is in good hands. I trying to think of what he could have ingested, but I'm at a loss. He is never left alone for fear of bloat. He's always on a lead when he is walked. I just hope whatever is wrong, he can survive it. Please send him positive thoughts. Thanks in advance.
