When I say your title, the first thing that popped into my head was "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing." Don't know why, but it is fitting for Casper.
Oh... I just posted the same thing before I read your post. My grandma used to sing it to me till her final days.. I remember her frail voice as if it were yesterday
My buddy Tucker. 13yrs old playing with fish and frogs in his kiddie pool. He was summer solstice boy born in June. Rescued at 3yrs old, ten wonderful years together.
As soon as I read the title I knew what my song would be, it's called Bandeira Branca (White Flag), it's an old Brazilian carnival song. It doesn't translate very well, but it is basically a person asking for his loved one to come back (and for peace between them, hence the white flag), because missing him hurts to much.
The lyrics don't have much to do with me and Kid, but it is the song that I sang to him over and over again when we were lying on the floor together.
And I thought I was the only one who sings to dogs! Although I suspect if you asked my dogs they would tell you that my singing is like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. For Goldie it was always Wonder by Natalie Merchant, for Jack (our coonhound who my husband insists is a southern boy at heart) it is Ohio (Come Back to Texas) by Bowling for Soup, for Gracie is is God Bless the Child by Billie Holiday and for Bailey...well whenever Bailey hears any music he jumps up and places his paws around me and tries to dance. Fortunately he allows me to lead! He seems partial to Imagine Dragons so perhaps I will need to learn to sing Radioactive? Thanks for the fun thread!
For Sophie our almost 12 year old golden retriever, I LIKE BREAD AND BUTTER, , I LIKE TOAST AND JAM I PUT HER THYROID pill in a little piece of bread each morning. As soon as I get near the bread box, she is all perked ears and bright shining eyes. SHE LOVES BREAD.
For Moose, our big Great Pyrenees, I'LL FLY AWAY because when he sees hawks, ospreys, it he barks at them and if they do not leave, he gets out in the yard, kicking his back feet and throwing grass and dirt until they do leave--and he thinks he has made them fly away. By the way, he ignores pigeons, ring neck and white wing doves, grackles, gulls. Only "runs off" birds of prey.
I sing to Buddy " You are my sunshine my only sunshine..." do you guys know that one?
And this morning we had a long long long walk through the woods .. the leaves were beautiful... so I sang him California Dreaming at the top of my voice. Then I followed up with Teddy Bears Picnic... "If you go down to the woods today...." Think he loved it lol!!!!!
I sang I'm Henry the eighth I am, I am, for my Henry.
Cat Stevens song I love my dog as much as I love you is both Henry and Taylors song.
Taylor also get the nursery rhyme Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Sailor, Rich Man, Poor Man, Beggar Man Thief.
If Taylor has stayed on the bed while I've come down stairs its Pink Floyd, Is there any body out there, just shout if you can here me - then I hear him thundering down the stairs.
Taylor howls when I play the saxophone so we don't do that so much now lol.
All this singing is well and good but I am afraid I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, so Taylor probably thinks its all the same song!
Unchained Melody for us, though my son once told me I sing like a corncrake with laryngitis. This same son swears he'll play "Life is a lemon (and I want my money back)" by Meatloaf at my funeral, just because I used to play it so loudly in the car.
I started to sing "you are my sunshine" to one of our boys after he had a big surgery for a mast cell tumor. I didn't sing it too loud so as to not scare anyone, but the golden didn't mind if I was a little out of tune! When we're all together in the car on a road trip we sometimes sing "we are family" but change up the words a little bit
I also used to sing "You are my Sunshine" to Zoe. With Gracie whose registered name is Sunfire's Amazing Grace, I sing Amazing Grace. She seems to like it and I think it calms her.
We usually end up singing Carly Rae Jepson " I Really Like You". I think we sing it most days because that is what we feel she is repeating in her head when she sees someone.
For Hazel it would be a Townes Van Zandt song called To Live is to Fly, which is also her registered name (If you saw her retrieving in water, you'd understand why. ) :
Well...Sabrina will get a treat as I sang on Broadway...Cara never appreciated my Robert Goulet tones..I'd say to her "People use to pay good money babe!"...so for Sabrina I think I've picked 'Hello Young Lovers' from the 'King and I'...except for 'young lovers' ...'Sabrina' works perfectly 'Hello Sabrina where ever you are..'.....if you know the rest of the song you know I'm as much mush as all the 'Male Goldens' everyone talk about If Sabrina appreciates musicals..maybe we will go see some revivals .....and I'll take her backstage )))))
Sabrina - Gotchaday 11/14/15 - Daughter of National Champion 'Tag'
Cara-Mia - 7/3-7/15 My forever Daddy's little Girl Heart-Golden' - Pedigree : Pennylane
Money talks
But it don't sing and dance
And it don't walk
And long as I can have you
Here with me, I'd much rather be
Forever in blue jeans
