Here is Emma's story:http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/golden-retrievers-main-discussion/120699-emma-leaking-again.html

and her picture...

Emma is doing well. Her kidney function is stable. The numbers improved once I began cooking for her. Here is a sample, one serving, recipe: Nutrition Facts and Analysis for Emma's Recipe Sweet Potato and Turkey

I also supplement with fish oil, vitamins, D-mannose and probiotics. So far, so good. She LOVES her food.

She is a really happy, active puppy. We are taking agility classes and she is all smiles and prancing through the field...and full of mischief! Sometimes we call her Miss Demeanor...

The difficult part is all the vet visits and poking and prodding...and every time they remind us she will only be with us for a short time.

I was only thinking recently I wonder how Emma is doing. Thank you for the update, and I am thrilled to hear that she is doing well and enjoying her food. She's such a beautiful girl. Live each day to the full with her and have lots of fun :) Way to go Emma, you're doing just great!

The time she has with you is a great time. She is not thinking about the then, just about the now and enjoying every minute of it.

So glad to see she is stable and gosh, she is good looking. Lots of good thoughts to both of you.

Thank you for an update. I see the original post and wonder how she is doing. I pray she has many many more tomorrows with you. I'm starting some home cooking with Tayla and I so happy that you notice some improvement. She is a happy beautiful girl.

Her improvement, with nothing more than diet, has completely surprised our vet. :D He was skeptical that a home-cooked diet would make any difference. He wanted us to feed her a low protein commercial diet. I feed her a moderate amount of protein and a lowish amount of phosphorus. The quality of protein is much higher. The results have been nothing short of amazing. I am so happy to be able to do something for her! The vet wanted the recipe and said I made him crack open his old veterinary nutrition text book..Hehe
