I was wondering how some of you first discovered the forum? I found it when I was researching cancer in goldens, just before Barnaby had his surgery. Hi to all!.
To be honest, I was looking for a Golden retriever forum. I've always been a member of forums and love the honest truth you learn from people with hands on experience. So I googled golden retriever forums.. checked out a few but this is deff the best one I browsed then joined right away. Haven't looked back!
I found it when Tally was just a baby, and I wanted so much to learn about positive training and clickers, bc I had trained so many dogs with the Monks Of New Skete and Winifred Strickland. I went on a big research spree, and found the forum.
The other forum I was a part of did a massive, unannounced, change overnight and I hated the new format and change. Left there and came here, along with probably 50 other people back then............
Hello! I found it because every time I typed a dog/puppy question into google the GRF was always in the top three results and always had the most useful answers. So I stalked for a while and then finally joined. There is a ton of useful and helpful info/people on here, I love it!
I was just google searching GRs and this forum kept coming up , I lurked for months reading info before I joined and put a deposit down for a pup.....I will be here for awhile
I was looking for breeder information sometime after losing my first golden FeatherRiverSam, Sammie. Shortly after my rescue Woody found me...a total surprise...I hadn't even filled out any rescue paperwork...it was just meant to be.
I received a very warm welcome here and I was hooked!
When Mr. Tuff came to live with me he was my first Golden. I knew nothing of the breed so I searched online until I stumble upon GRF. I read posts and visited frequently before joining. The welcome from so many GReat folks sold me.
I had always wanted a Golden, but had always rescued mysterious mixes before Toby. He is my first Golden and was my first puppy, so I had a pile of questions. I Googled and found GRF.
I found the forum after Lillie suddenly passed away. I was in shock & was desperately searching for answers.
I lurked for a couple of months to be honest. My hubby finally told me I could look for a puppy. But it had to be from a hobby breeder with clearances. We found her through this forum & now we have Maddie.
I feel very fortunate to have found this community!!
I was the newsletter editor of our local Golden Retriever rescue and I researched a lot of articles on my own and wrote them for the group. I was researching for a topic and found the forum. I lurked, then joined, but didn't really post a lot until a few months later, then my Barkley suddenly collapsed early one morning before the vet clinic was opened- I posted a question in a panic and caring people answered me immediately. We ended up going through a splenectomy, hemangiosarcoma diagnosis and the long goodbye with him and the support I received was tremendous. I was hooked....
I found this forum on Google when trying to find info on how to find a reputable golden breeder. I lurked for a while, gathering tons of info on clearances and puppy raising. I decided to join a few days before picking up Molly so I could introduce her and myself to the forum.
Jack is my first Golden & I kept googleing & always came up with GRF I came on as a non-member & lurked, then started asking questions & so many on here where friendly & ready to help I had to join.Everyone helped as I struggled with my Golden shark & as I fell in love with him & the breed. When Barb said I could get another but it had to be female & light colored everyone helped me search & we found Sweetie.GRF is stuck with me.Made so many online friends here & have met a couple & hope to meet more!
LOL. I didn't lurk, I jumped right in & am hooked on the generous people.
After googling breeders- I found it!
I'm grateful for the generous experienced members.
I also found it while googling different breeders. Felt good when there was no negative things written about the breeder we ended up getting Winnie from. I read alot of the forums and every so often post. The information I receive here is amazing. It has helped in so many situations.thank you everyone.
I found it after the death of my first golden, Baxter. I was utterly miserable and this place helped a lot. Seeing the photos and learning about possibilities. It was a huge blessing for me. I've learned more here than I can ever repay.
+1 on the well stated above comment from Nolesfan.
Found the site during some web searching at a tough time. Now I make daily visits and use this site as a personnel doggy journal and sounding board. I never tire of dog pictures

I was google-ing pictures of Goldens before I got my Sandy and found the forum. Well, you all seemed so nice I just had to join. I just wish I had some more time to spend here. I can only make it a couple of times a month, but I still LOVE all of the photos and advice!
I really do not remember what exactly I was looking for when I found the forum--only that it must have had something to do with Golden Retrievers. At the time I found GRF, Max was about 1 1/2 years old. I remember being excited to find a place where everyone enjoyed Goldens as much as I did.
Back in 1995 when we got our first Golden I was a member of the G@H Golden Retriever mail list but lost touch as the years went by. After Maggie went to the Bridge and my DD gave me Hank as a birthday gift, I started looking for a GR group and found the GRF.
