Prayers needed

Hi Everyone,

It has been quite a long time..in fact, I think a few years maybe since I last posted on this forum. My husband and I got our second Golden Retriever, Layla, in November of 2011. She is now 2.5 years old and such a beautiful girl at that.

Today we noticed her licking her paw and saw a growth on her paw, in between a toe. We immediately got her into the vet and it is indeed something that needs to be removed. There is a possibilty it could be cancerous. She is having surgery on Monday and there's a chance her one toe may need to be removed. They will be sending the growth in to get biopsied, and we'll have the results by next week Friday.

I know this may seem minor to some, but I find my whole world almost crashing down right now. Everything was fine yesterday, and now I am scared out of my mind that something is going to happen to our sweet baby girl. They brought us home with an E-Collar which she is adjusted to a bit, but seems so sad with it on. It breaks my heart that she may be thinking in her head, "What the hell did I do to deserve this."

I am just asking for your prayers right now that the results come back non-cancerous and she can have a long, healthy, life. I keep telling myself that even if she has to lose a toe, it would be so much better than losing her altogether. It breaks my heart..she is too young to be going through any of this. I am so sad right now.

A Prayer by Saint Francis of Assisi, for Sick Animals

Heavenly Father, You created all things for Your glory and made us stewards of this creature. If it is Your will, restore it to health and strength. Blessed are You, Lord God, and holy is Your name for ever and ever. Amen

Sending prayers to you and your sweet little Layla. I hope it is benign. If not just wanted to share that our neigbors black lab had a cancerous growth on his toe. They took off two toes to make sure it would not spread. It had been two years and he is doing great and walking and running fine. He acts like he doesn't even miss the toes I hope this doesn't scare you but wanted to share a positive outcome to a worst case scenario.

Praying surgery goes well, she does not lose the toe, and the growth is benign.
