| My dog walker ("A Nanny For Your Pets" here in Columbus, Ohio) charges slightly different per day depending on how many days per week. For example: 5 walks/week = $15/walk 4 walks/week = $16/walk 3 walks/week = $17/walk She's bonded and insured and extremely reliable. I give her a key, and depending on how many dogs she's walking that particular day, she arrives at the house anywhere from 11:30AM-12:30PM. She also dispenses meds, if necessary, has the number for my vet, and all my numbers. You might check Angie's List in your area for dog walker recommendations, but I agree with mudEpawz: definitely check with your vet(s) and pet stores.

| I found my dog walker through my local independently owned pet store. She is great although I actually haven't needed her since the fall because now my boyfriend and I work totally different hours and someone is almost always home. She would come for about 45 minutes and I paid her $10 a time. I didn't actually have her walk them (or just him, before we got Winny), she just came and often brought her golden Dexter and they played in the backyard and stuff. I would definitely meet them in person, get references, etc.

| Probably has a lot to do with the price of their insurance, too.

| Check out babysitters.com. In California they list dog care as well as child care. I would ask at your local dog parks as well. There are often flyers on the bulletin boards at mine, and many of the walkers bring their charges to the park so you could meet them and chat them up. Also many of the weekend owners you meet at the DP rely on dog walkers during the work week--you might get a referral or two. Be sure to check references carefully. There was an arrest of a walker here last year. He'd been slowly ripping off his customers, using the keys he'd been given |
