Hello,
I bought a golden six months ago from a breeder here in Michigan and this is my 5th golden I have owned in my life in the past 44 years! I have never had trouble with any of them. But this one I have is very aggressive and bites my young children! I have contacted the breeder and she has tried to tell me that she told me he was dominant! WHY WOULD I BUY A DOMINANT DOG WHEN I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN!?!?!? I have spent $2000 on this dog trying to get him to settle down. THe breeder says she will take him but will not reimburse any of the money and won't allow me to sell him to a good home. I'm heart broken to have to give him up but I can't risk the safety of my children. Any suggestions for me before I have to make this choice?

When you say he bites your children is this play or is it an actual bite?

he's 6 months old? Could you describe in more detail what's happening? Sorry you're going through this but we need more info to help.

My daughters are 5 and 9. He is 8 months old. I got him from the breeder at 7 weeks and 6 days old. He has bit hard enough to draw blood on my dad and put teeth marks/welts on my daughters arms and back. It is unprovoked. They will walk by him and he jumps on their backs and when they try to get him off he bites them. We have never hit him but we will put a knee up when he comes to attack us. When we tell him "off" he comes at us again and again. He rarely seems calm and rarely wants to cuddle or be petted

My advice would be to see a behaviorist. Teeth on skin at his age is never good. I see you're in MI. I just took my dog to see a fantastic guy in SE MI. I can give you the info if you like. It was the best money I ever spent.

I was supposed to start classes Thursday night! I would love the name and number of the guy! I have never known a golden to aggressive! Especially with children!
