Agree. If you have a golden @ 14 you are a lucky person.

None of my dogs, Bichons, Goldens, Samoyeds, have ever lived to 14.
I can't imagine ever giving my dog up!
I contacted the rescues right away, because I am so afraid they will be put to sleep at the shelter!!

Oh my goodness, how terribly terribly sad. Look at his poor expression. I was so so lucky to have my girl until she was 14 and four months and still miss her. SO relieved a rescue are collecting him, well done x

This makes my day! I saw Clyde's post this morning on Facebook as I was getting ready to leave for work, and a couple posts above his I saw this:




Seemed like a sign to me! I knew I wouldn't have time to contact any of the rescues until after work, thank you so much for contacting them!!

Have read through this thread & want to thank Jackson & Karen for love put into action. Wonderful news that this lovely old GR gentleman will be safe & shown love. I cried really hard when I read the poem above .....my husband kept saying "it's just a dog" I think he thought I was losing it! I get so emotional over things like this. Am going tp put this poem onto my FB page. My husband's nephew has two beautiful SiberianHuskies ....one of them a rescue who was going to be put to sleep due to a serious hip issue. He paid over $5000 for surgery for her, & although there are still on-going problems with her hip, Mark could not love her & her 'brother' more. He has never regretted rescuing her, even though the money spent on her surgery was money he had saved for a trip to Europe.

How sad They abandoned him long before dumping him at the shelter. Chained up in the back yard for 10 years. Oh, my God, what a pitiful life he's led. If I didn't have Andy with all his medical troubles I'd be in the car on my way to VA right now.

We adopted a couple 13-14 year old goldens who'd been in the same circumstances. It was so rewarding to see them blossom and learn what it's like to be loved and have fun.

Looked on Facebook and sounds like someone who recently lost their 12 year old golden is very interested I hope it works out so this old soul can have some happy times!
