I am hoping that i can get some ideas on what to do with my Kara Belli scratching. She seems to get ear infections quite often and about a month ago tangled with a skunk. After the skunking she has been scratching even though she got a bath a few times. We brought her to the vet and he thought it could be an allergy or could be from having an ear infection. He would like to also check her thyroid. Right now they are treating her for a yeast infection. The vet told me that it is common with goldens to have thyroid problems. Is that true?

Absolutely true, and it's well worth checking. In fact, even if her numbers come back in the normal range, if it's very low normal, she may still need supplementation. Being hypothyroid can cause yeast infections, thinning coat, weight gain, itchies, and a host of other problems. Go with your vet's recommendtion and get her tested!
