Uneventful morning at the park with Honey and Gunner....

Name: Honey at park with lead.JPG
Views: 133
Size: 39.5 KB You can see Honey with the long lead and Gunner just a bit ahead of her. Looks like this might be the way till I feel she will come when called.

Took my kids to the park this morning with a long lead attached to Honey. Gunner was wonderful and didn't run far away from us and kept coming back to us to play. I'm sure Honey didn't like being attached to me but I'm just not that comfortable letting her run free...yet. I rewarded both of them when they came to me when called. Gunner is so good I hope that she learns from him. We stayed away from the hill where they both ran down to the creek and Honey fell in last week.

She may not like it but she is safe! Tell her to keep coming and she'll be off in no time!

Good call. I walk Sydney on one of those every day - she gets into a state running around and could care less about recall when she's off.

Better to be tied to you then something bad happen...

I do the same thing as you! Despite years of recall training Chloe is so flighty off leash and I don't trust her anymore.I keep her on a 30 foot leash at the beach, parks and trails. It took her awhile to get use to it but I dont think she cares anymore.

Here are a few pics of Chloe at the beach on her long line.

I think it's a good compromise. They have a certain amount of freedom, you retain a certain amount of control.

Good plan. I hope she learns soon and wins her reward to run free with her bud.

I'm glad it was uneventful and I already have 2 leads in longer sizes for Mr. Yogi when that time comes!

I couldn't agree more with this statement! An uneventful walk is a good walk...nice and relaxing for everyboby the way a walk should be.
