I usually do not leave Bessy's collar on but forgot today to remove it. Next thing I knew Mia had her mouth wrapped in the collar and had twisted it so tight I couldn't figure out what to do. Bess was very calm so that helped. I was running to get a scissors but thankfully the collar clasp came open. Mia was so freaked out and so was I. It could have been so much worse. I checked her out and no damage to her mouth or teeth or jaw. My poor baby.. That is just how fast accidents can happen I guess. I feel so bad. Never again will I ever forget to remove Bessy's collar.

I'm so glad that both dogs are ok, and also that they weren't so scared that you were bitten. Thank you so much for posting this timely reminder that dogs need to have breakaway collars or they should be removed for play. I confess I'm sometimes forgetful about removing a collar for a playdate. I have friends who had a lab strangle to death when he hooked a tooth in his sister's collar before they realized that they weren't playing, truly tragic. So glad that your story ended ok...

My sweet, joyful, beloved heart.

Thank you.. It was so hard to see my baby in so much pain. I have not been the same since it happened. Proud of my old girl for remaining so calm. But heart broken for Mia. Not what you ever want for your babies. I try to be so carefull with every thing they do and just in an instant it could all turn out so horrible. I feel so blessed that they are both ok. Thank you again.
