Tongue spots?

Our 3 year old Kasey has a tongue spot or "freckle" (as our vet calls them). When he was a puppy, we thought he got a hold of one of my Sharpie pens, buy since then, as he grew larger, so did the spot, and now it is faded quite a bit, but still is about dime-sized. The doctor says it's common and some dogs have two or even three spots. Anyone else see this on their dogs?

Yes, Max has three. People on the board call them "treat spots." The spots are normal for several breeds, including Golden Retrievers.

Molly has three across her tongue towards the back. They're getting large enough that they are joining together. My breeder said they're called treat spots.

My male golden pup 4 months old has a black spot on his tongue as well. From
what I researched it's no big deal just a pigment or birthmark.

My sweet bridge girl Lucy had one and it was so far back on her tongue we didn't notice it until she was 8 years old. I also thought she got into a marker or something.

Some people *joke* that it is not a true golden unless it has a treat spot.
One of my goldens has 2 the other pure bred golden has none.

Hank doesn't have one but his brother/littermate does.

Yogi has a little one, so we'll wait and see how big it gets. I think it gives him character!
