| Questions / Concerns Our Golden is 8 months old, and since we've had him as a pup we've always had to go to the vets to get his anal glans expressed... They told me that we wouldn't have to do it anymore when he gets 6-8 months... I was told to feed him green beans, we did that one month and nothing helped nor worked...so now I'm asking for advice...We feed him Ekunuba... |

| Does he have problems with them? We rarely do puppy anals. We have a few dogs we do once monthly or every few months, but again they are older. You have to be careful, doing them too often can cause issues with scar tissue building up that can make them more difficult to express.

| Usually big dogs do not have anal sac issues and usually puppies do not have anal sac problems. Adding fiber can help because it bulks up the poop and it helps to empty them...usually we recommend cooked green beans, canned pumpkin, cooked squash. We are also selling "scoot bars" which are high in fiber and are for anal gland health.

| The more you express them, the more that they'll need done. Add fiber or find a food with more fiber to see if it can help. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| I just recently had to have this done with Diesel as well. He is 6 months and they told me the same thing.... Put a tablespoon of pumpkin in his food for fiber. We've been on the pumpkin for a week or so and he is pooping more but doesn't look much bulkier. We feed him Nutro large breed puppy. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com App
