Hope everyone had a great break and got to spend some time with family!

I have a question about getting a dog AKC registered. Cooper's breeder had us sign a contract that we would get him neutered by a certain time (8 months), have him attend puppy classes, and feed him a certain type of dog food that she distributes and then provide her proof of these things and then she will get us the paperwork we need. We did all this and she hasn't gotten us his papers yet. I have sent a few emails (I believe 3) requesting these but she doesn't respond to the emails just about getting the papers and only responded about getting the needed proof when I sent the vet records and obedience class certificate but I also asked about getting him AKC registered.

Is she required to get these to us in a certain time frame or is there any other way we can go about getting him registered? Is there an age that you have to have your dog AKC registered by before it is too late?

Wow! What a contract! Have you made a phone call to the breeder? How long have you been trying to get in touch with her?

Since Nov 26th. I haven't tried calling but I guess I should try that too. When we had chosen her as a breeder and while we were waiting for a puppy, I found she was very hard to get in contact with by phone which is why I was trying email. I'll give her a call this evening or tomorrow and see if I can possibly reach her that way.

Not the best communicator and a crazy contract....but she sure breeds some great pups .

Most breeders provide the paperwork when you pick up the puppy. I would certainly try to give the breeder a call and get it ASAP. Good Luck!

Wow, that's quite a list of stipulations! Hank's breeder sent the necessary registration papers home with him. I would try calling. Are you close enough to stop by her house?

How can she do that? Isn't there a six month time limit on registering puppies?

Do you have a bill of sale?

A copy of the contract signed by her?

Hi all,
Wanted to respond since I finally have something to update on! I spoke with my breeder on the phone today and she said the paperwork is "in process" and she should get it back in 3-4 weeks and then I can come pick it up or she can mail it to me.

I don't think I have a copy of a bill of sale but I do have a contract that she wrote up and signed and it has the price of the dog on it.
