This six year old Golden Ka Pai, went missing from the home she had lived in since a seven week old puppy. Missing with her was a puppy from her second litter, that the family had kept, called Cashew. The following day, Cashew found her way back to the house & was sitting on the front doorstep when they got up after a late night of searching for her & her mum. There was no sign of her mum. Over the following weeks the family searched everywhere, contacted all known organisations, & did everything they could, to find their beloved girl. But there was no trace of her.
The owner of Ka Pai was a policeman & his wife. After almost three months of searching, they gave up hope of ever finding her. One day, the policeman engaged in a raid for drugs on a house over an hour drive from where he lived. On entering the house, he headed towards a bedroom, to check it out, & discovered two dogs resting on the bed. One of them was Ka Pai, his missing goldie. He couldn't believe it! She recognised him & the two of them had a rapturous reunion. When he took her home, his wife & children couldn't believe it either, & Ka Pai was joyously reunited with her family on 20th November this year. According to a statement given by the guy who lived in the house they had raided, Ka Pai had turned up one day by a school bus stop, & was picking up stones & carrying them to his daughter. She took a shine to her, & asked her dad if they could take her home. And they did. Ka Pai is Maori for "All is well" ....... Below is a photo of Ka Pai safely back home with her family. Such a great story!
