Thanks Outwest! Looks like I may need an extra pair of hands to take her temp! I will try when my husband comes home.

Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to take her temp. It sounds like secretion from her anal glands. After she's back to her normal routine of eating & eliminating, she'll be fine. You can mention it to your vet when she goes back to get the stitches removed and if they need to be expressed, they can do it then.

I didn't think about anal glands. I was thinking at first a foul smelling discharge maybe from an infection. It is a good idea to have a rectal thermometer flr your dog for the future. It's likely that the vet and techs expressed her anal glands while she was under anesthesia.

Totally sounds like her anal sacs... When they are nervous or stressed and sometimes happy, they let them go... They are vestigial marking glands...
