I watched it on CNN. There were 3 of them. It was wonderful to watch them being petted by children. So calm. It was a wonderful gesture that they were brought there.

Saturday, around 3pm, we took our 3 month old pup, Rocky, to an outdoor mall, by the outdoor ice rink and ferris wheel (Orange County, CA, Irvine Spectrum). My daughter was having a sleepover and the girls wanted to ice skate. Let's bring Rocky while we sit drink coffee and watch the girls.

He is a big ol ball of fur and just adorable and loving and calm and so sweet. His breeder raises therapy dogs, his dad is a therapy dog.

We were swarmed with children and their parents. We couldn't walk 5 feet. We all talked about how sweet this was considering what happened. To see the kids just sit next to him and pet and then hear all the parents stories of their goldens, how great this was that we brought him. Tons of pictures were taken. Rocky loved the attention. Especially of the little girls. We were not expecting what happened. It just seemed to be that people wanted to pet something so loveable and gentle and so sweet and soft and fluffy. I was amazed that older kids came to pet him, boys that looked tough and rough came to pet him, parents bringing their toddlers to pet him and it was just this general feeling of a release and just pure loving, petting his soft soft fur. Rocky would roll over and let them pet his belly. He's truly amazing.

Then, someone told us there was a shooting at Fashion Island, another outdoor mall 20/15 minutes away. I couldn't believe it! What is going on? Thankfully, no one was hurt, the shooter shot into the air was arrested.

You know what struck me? The lady who told me this said, "we just left Fashion Island because there was a shooting by Macys's so we came here." WHAT? And she was with 2 teen girls and the daughter said "I just want to go HOME!" We were outta there! We had to pick him up because it was taking 20 minutes to walk 10 feet.

Although, before hearing that news, it was nice to see the kids smile and oh and aw and just take their minds off what happened. Rocky was amazing. Nobody could believe he was 3 months old. He's just so calm, relaxing, and just soaked all the petting in. I can see how having those 3 goldens show up helped ease the children's fears. I saw it for myself.

Our breeder is going to be getting lots of phone calls.

I watched the entire interfaith service on CNN. It was very touching.

God Bless the people and their Goldens that visited Newtown.
