Need to vent (owner allows dog to attack mine)

I am getting so frustrated. Heres the back story. Neighbour has a little foo foo shih tzu. This dog was fine with my dog until the owner had her first baby then it turned mean towards my dog for some reason (and a few other neighbouring dogs). This dog attacked Lincoln (Lincoln was leashed, the shih tzu was not) on city property once. Fine, I deal with it, wounds heal. The second time it happened (no skin was broken) I am starting to get pissy. Third time happened, skin was broken. I went home so upset I was in tears. Owner stops me on my walk the next day. Heres how the conversation went

Owner- Oh, I am so sorry she did this to your dog how is he?

Me- Hes fine, thanks. Please, make sure she does not do it to mine or another dog again there some owners in the neighbourhood who would allow their dogs to kill yours"

Owner- Oh, I am sorry, We are trying to control this, its something new that started after we had the baby"

Me- Next time, im going to have to report it to the spca because I need to protect my dog in case my grip slips or he gets out of my control and does damage to yours

Owner- Okay, I understand it will not happen again

Whatever. Shes not right in the head or something she just talks weird about stupid irrelevant things. Fast forwards a couple months. I am walking with a witness. Her dog attacks mine again. This is number 4. Breaks skin. I go home, get witness statement and take pics of his wounds.

Decided for some reason to not stir the pot because the husband is a firemen and cops and firemen are tight here. Number 5 happens. I had enough. Called the spca, told them 4 times do NOT give her a ticket just please caution her of the city by law code about having your dog off leash and the result of it if her off leash dog was attacked by my or anyone elses leashed dog. They leave and go speak to her im sure since theres nothing but air in her head it went in and our the other ear.

Fast forward. Every time I walk by ( I always walk on the other side of the road now). She always shouts profanities at me saying my dog is terrified of hers and that I am a cry baby and cannot defend myself So I ignore it as to not feed into it. She drives by me all the time, flips me the finger and I wave back politely because I know it irritates her when I dont retaliate back.

This past summer, I was walking Lincoln. She has her now 3 year old daughter walking this dog on a flexi leash (which is not acceptable under the code needs to be 6 feet). She sees me, quickly grabs her dogs leash. Her dog starts flying at Lincoln, she lets it go to the end of its 16 foot flexi, it starts to nip at Lincoln. Meanwhile, my dog is cujo here all teeth including his back ones are out, his ears are pinned back, his slobering, hair is up and hes barking from deep within. Im trying to maintain my dog on a 6 foot leash who wants to eat her little dog and what does she do? She THROWS HER DAUGHTER IN BETWEEN MY DOG AND HERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Im like ***? If my dog bites your kid im not feeling sorry in the least but obviously I wont let that happen.

Fast forward to tonight. Pass her again (I generally walk past her house during the day when shes usually working) but tonight I was to lazy to take him around the long way. She laughs, gives her dog the 16 foot flexi and its attacking Lincolns legs!!!!!!!!!!! I try to walk away and she follows me!!!! Like, what does she want me to do drop my dogs leash so he can take care of the situation himself???? Trust me lady if my dog was terrified of your foo foo he would NOT be acting like this right now. Like does she not understand if my dog ever got a hold of hers it would take one hard bite and that would be it????

Why are people so stupid???? They just do not get it. I have no idea if the husband knows the full scenario or if hes just getting her side. Im just waiting for her dog to do this to my neighbours Golden because that dog will attack back and the owner will allow it and there will be no more foo foo left!

Sorry, I needed to rant. I just do not get people sometimes. I own a small dog and she knows she better never act like that! Some people were handed the short end of the stick. She acts like she was thrown from the stupid tree and hit every single branch on the way down

I would take a video camera with me on my walks. Point and shoot. She will either back off or she will not, either way you now have proof/documentation of her harassment.

Yes this..exactly! You cant fix stupid but you sure can make their life miserable. I would be calling spca and not tell them to go easy on her. She is lucky that another dog hasnt seriously hurt or killed her dog. We had a situation like that at my work, a person brought in their little min pin that was seriously injured, required multiple surgeries, and found out that this dog use to taunt the other dog, well other dog got sick of it, jumped the fence and attacked. Dogs will defend themselves.. And they dont know when to stop.

I agree and I would think that she would smarten up a little if you got proof.

Its illegal to video tape someone here without their permission. I can audio tape though. I have already been to court with her once before. She so stupid. I cant stand it.

Sadly, it will ALWAYS be the larger dog thats blamed even if the little dog was the one starting everything

that's sad it sounds like this neighbor is causing a lot of trouble for you and even endangering her daughter maybe to antagonize you and all of it really shouldn't be aloud anywhere.

It sucks that she can't control her dog, but I'd be careful how far you push things. Isn't Lincoln not current on his vaccinations? If so, I'd make sure she never has a reason to report you as you may end up being fined or having him quarantined.

No, she now had a second kid. I heard from another neighbour they were considering selling in a couple years. That was almost 2 years ago I hope they put their house up for sale this year! No one likes them I hear. Her and the delusional crazy cat lady whos always drunk who hallucinated my dog attacking her cat causing severe emotional trauma the cat had to be rushed to the vet for blood work drive me batty. She claimed my dog did this at midnight one night when I wasnt even home with my dog (was out of town)!!! Couple neighbours and I gathered for a BBQ labour day and were killing ourselves laughing over that haha

No, he is not up to date on vaccinations but I have a medical waiver for the rabies and the city accepts waivers In my city (actually Province) they just do not go knocking on doors asking for vaccine papers. So IF lets say Lincoln bits a human. They city comes out and will ask for a vaccine certificate and I need to say "here is his medical waiver and reason as to why he cannot be up to date and also a letter stating hes otherwise healthy". They will have me quarantine him on my property for 10 days and that will be that. The most she could get me on is city tags but I have till March to get those

You should have bought pepper spray for dogs. You still should.

I can't imagine putting up with that crap. Sorry.

Some awful owners out there. Your dog shouldn't have to suffer the consequences. I would spray the other dog and then you'd never have to worry about that problem again.
