| Jack is 3 years old today Jack turns 3 today Happy Birthday Jackson! Untill I got Jack I never truly knew what the term "heart dog" meant.My wife was more attached to Tawny our chow/husky than I was.I loved her dearly but didn't understand how special the bond could be untill my boy Jack came along.Last night as we sat on the couch I'm positive he could tell how much I miss Barb while she's gone taking care of her sister.He snuggled up extra close raised his head & licked the underside of my chin as if to say "i'm right here to keep you company Buddy" Anyway everyone please wish Capt Jack Curles a Happy Birthday  Steak for Jack & Sweetie tonight!Thanks Jimmy

| A very happy birthday to Jack. How wonderful that you & him enjoy that magical bond, & may you both enjoy it for many years to come. I know what you mean re the special bond we can have with our GRs. We have had our papillon for six years, & I absolutely adore him. He melts my heart when he looks up atme with his soulful eyes. He sleeps in his own bed on the floor next to me, & is always nearby. I knew I would love young Loki when he joined our family at end of September, but I thought he would be my husband's heart dog. As it turned out, due to me being off work since a week before he came to us, with a work-related injury, I have formed a very close bond with Loki, & it grows stronger every day. My relationship with Loki is totally different from my relationship with Jontay, who is a very quiet little guy & not into romping about in the garden ...he is an anxious little fellow too & gets very stressed on car drive, so apart from a weekly trip to the park, he seldom can go anywhere with us. He will bark continuously at people he doesn't know. Loki on the other hand, loves going in the car with us, for trips out & new adventures. He is always very eager to meet up with new people, & adores the fuss they make of him. Loves romping about, & enjoys splashing about in his two new pools in our back garden. And if I am upset, he will come & lay his head on my lap, staring up at me with a sad expression. So now I have two heart dogs, & sadly my husband has not formed the strong bond with Loki that I thought he would. His heart dog was a young German Shepherd he had in his twenties, who tragically got killed on the road at just eight months old, when a school kid opened the gate & let him out. Over thirty years ago now, but my husband still talks about him a lot. Once a dog has captured your heart, it remains there forever. Last edited by Dwyllis; 12-05-2012 at 02:12 PM. |
