God Bless you and your family. My 43 year old brother has down's syndrome and he brings much love to all that know him. I am sure your son is the same.

I think you may be confused by the difference between a service dog and a therapy dog. My understanding is that service dogs are those that you see as guide dogs (for the blind and disabled) These dogs are very special and take years to train by specialized trainers. The dogs that go to hospitals and nursing homes are therapy dogs. These dogs require specialized training as well past general obedience, but not as intense.(Anyone here feel free to correct me if I am wrong)

With proper training I am sure they will be great friends. They do look beautiful together. Best wishes to your family.

Those are some precious pictures! I echo with everyone that Welcome to the board, we love all dogs, no matter the "breed" but we do have a problem with the "breeders" who do these designer breeds and dont breed properly.

Yes almost all dogs come from mixing one breed (or more) together but with much thought and science behind it. Goldendoodles come in many different sizes, temperaments and are far from being a "true" breed. I see it all the differences at my work (I'm a vet tech). Keep in mind (and get familiar) with both breeds as you will see a combo coming out in your dog. We will all be happy to help if you need it!
