| I feed my Beamer boy 2 cups a day of the proplan chicken and rice all life stages- maybe that would be a good starting point. He is at a great weight. The two labs also get 2 cups a day and are finally starting to look good. If he is still hungry after eating that, try supplementing green beans

| I've never fed the amount listed on the bag. If our crew got that much they'd be blimps! Like many others, ours get 1.75- 2 cups/ day. |

| My Tito gets PP sensitive skin and stomach. He's a lean, 68 pound, very active (agility, hunt and field training, etc) intact male. Intact males can eat a bit more than neutered males. He gets 1 heaping cup, twice a day, and very few treats. Any more than that and he would look like a keg with legs. Ignore the bag.

| Both of my goldens are eating PPP SS. My girl who will be 8 next month, gets 2 cups a day. My boy who is 3 is getting 2.25-2.50 cups a day only because he is very active is and he's burning more calories. If you want to reduce your boy's weight, increase his amount of exercise along with reducing his intake of food. You can give him 1/2 or 3/4 of dog food for each meal, and supplement with unsalted green beans to fill him up. My guys like a variety of fresh fruits and veggies, I give them a variety of each often. Here's a way to determine the intake of the number of calories per day- Ideal weight divided by 2.2, equals Metric Weight. Then take the Metric weight multiply it by 30, add 70, which equals number of Calories. Example: Using 64 as Ideal weight 64/2.2=29.09 29.09 X 30 + 70= 942.70 Calories per day Equals 2-2.25 cups of dog food per day Look at the Calories of the PPP SS per cup to determine the amount of food to feed. Also look at the Calories of the treats and dog bones you're giving him each day too and include this in the total number of calories per day your dog is getting. |

| Do you know how tall your boy is at the shoulder? My male is about 25 inches. He gets the same food as you are feeding. I give him 2.5 cups a day, plus some supplements. He gets a minimum of one hour of exercise a day. At last weigh in he was 75 pounds. The recs on the package are guidelines to provide a range of options. I'd suggest cutting back a half cup for a week, then another half cup, etc., until you get him down to about 2.5 or 3 cups a day. Let him be on that for a few weeks and see how he looks. He will give you the sad "I'm starving" eyes, but ignore him Here's a chart that I find very helpful: purina body condition score dog - Google Search |

Go with the 10 calories per pound that you want him to weigh until he loses the weight, you can add unsalted green beans to his portion and that will help him feel more full but not add calories. My dogs eat a total of 2 cups per day and maintain the right weight, I don't feed PPSSS though. I have fed my foster dogs PPSSS though, and usually only 2 cups per day, if it is a large dog I might up that to 3 cups but never more than that.

| I feed my guy the PP SS also. He is close to 2 years old and weights 68 lbs and is intact. He get 3 cups total per day. Plus afternoon "cookies". Plus bites of what I am eating. Plus training treats. ![]() Based on amounts that others are feeding makes we wonder if I should cut back a bit!

| We have Casper on PPPSS and he gets a total of 2 and 2/3 cups per day, split into two meals. He also gets a generous amount of treats on his evening walk. He gets 2 or 3 walks a day (about 1.5 hours total) and some running around in the backyard time. He is one year old, just under 24", and weighs 60 pounds. My husband wants me to move him to something else, because he says this food gives the dog fishbreath after meals. |

| Molly is on ProPlan Performance. She gets 2-2.5 cups. She's only 50 lbs and 22 inches but is still a puppy with high metabolism. It falls in the bag's guidelines but if I fed less she would be too skinny. I can already feel her ribs without pressing. |
