When I bought him as a puppy, I met both of his parents who were dark red goldens with kind of blocky heads. I do think he looks like a golden, but literally every other person who sees him asks me what he is mixed with. He recently got a haircut and I see he has a lot of excess skin on his neck. His face has always been a little blocky and wrinkly. I know there's no way for anyone to tell for sure, I'm wondering if anyone has an educated guess as to whether he's a unique looking purebred or a mix. Either way, in my biased opinion I think he is very adorable.

Looks Golden to me. Perhaps a bit overweight tough - maybe that's making him look more blocky?

There's all sort of issues with shaving a dog. I take it this was required for medical reasons.

Looks puregold to me also, good looking boy you have.

People who ask you if he's mixed, could be because they are not use to seeing the darker Goldens or the Field Line Goldens.

Golden, very cute, I believe no golden looks exactly the same. It make them unique in there own way.

I think people wouldn't be asking if you didn't shave his coat off.... o_o
