| Just FYI - I read the thread and while you got a couple of firm comments that you shouldn't leave the dog in the backyard, it didn't go south until you said it was nasty, needy and odd to keep a Golden in the house. It was pretty insulting to those of us who have Goldens in the house, much more so than anything anybody said to you up to that point. And no we don't keep dogs in the house, to put it in some other insulting words of yours, because we "have difficulty with trust and human relationships and...substitute that void with an animal." So if you're wondering why you got a lot of backlash, it has more to do with what you said about the rest of us than that you keep your dog in the backyard, though the story you're telling is pretty heartbreaking. It seems like he just wants to be by your side, and it's pretty sad to those of us that love having dogs around and enjoy that bond. |

| I'm pretty sure the OP is long gone by now and I'm sorry he was judged for his choice of housing the dog. However, he made a direct and personal attack to the majority of owners on this board and their choice of keeping their beloved dogs inside as nasty and needy people. For a member (well former now) to judge a whole forum like that is completely uncalled for. I'm glad he's gone, people like that will never contribute to a place such as this. |

| If mods did disable his account he wouldn't get them anymore. Not like it matters anyway, him calling out the whole forum like that alienated himself. An insult like that won't be making him any friends here. I was all for helping him, as I know some dogs that have lived and are living happy lives outdoors, but his opinion on people who keep their dogs indoors crossed the line for me. He may find a 70-80lb dog dreaming away by his feet disgusting and nasty, I find it as a priceless moment that puts a smile on my face. Thank you very much sir. |

Now apparently - we are nasty, odd, AND skeevy. According to him. |

| I guess...LOL, Hurley was raised by a Golden! He prefers to be outdoors in the winter but not all day - we had to buy a longer sofa for the family room to accomodate his length. You don't expect him to watch TV on the floor, do you ? In the summer he likes to lay on those magic boxes in the floor that blow cold air ...he doesn't go outside much before dark.
