Congrats on beautiful and shy miss Bella. Before no time she'll realize what an awesome home she's gone to and come out of her shell.

Can't believe I missed this, congrats!

Glad to hear that the 1st owner wanted to make sure she went to a good home and I'm glad it was an owner like you.

We gotta meet up soon for sure now!

Smile The Bella update

I tried to post this yesterday, but Tucker came by, licked the iPad screen, and everything disappeared! Who knew a GR tongue was that powerful?

Bella continues to settle in. As she gets comfortable, her little individual habits are emerging. She is real jumper, counter surfer, and is very quick on her feet. I raised Tess and Tucker to respect any gate I put in their path, but Bella has no problem barreling through or jumping over. I've gotten really good at keeping things at the back of the kitchen counter, but she is still happy to get up and look around. She's improving on that though.

I realized her behavior on leash is partly due to having been on a retractable one. She tries to jump over Tucker and looks confused when the leash stops her short. I haven't hooked them up to the coupler yet--want to work on her leash walking a bit more before introducing that.

I saw a really good demo of the impact of different styles of training (or not training) yesterday. I raised my voice (not a yell, just to be heard) and called both Tucker and Bella. Tucker trotted over to me right away, and Bella shrank down and hid behind a chair, hoping I couldn't see her. Somebody in her life used "Bella, come!" and then punished her. She was very scared. People are so stupid!

She still doesn't really like the crate, but does really like her evening Kong when she gets in there. And last night Tucker settled right away and didn't bark at her while she ate it (he gobbles his and then wants hers. ).

One of the cutest things she does is make this funny noise when she's happy or excited. It's a cross between whimper, whine, and bark, and it's very high pitched. Its almost like she's talking to us as she wiggles and wags. I'm going to try to get it on tape--very sweet. I'm sure it's partly submissive behavior, but if it makes her happy, I'm fine with it.

I am waiting at the dealership for my car to be serviced, so don't have pictures to post, but will post some later. Hope everyone is well.

That is so sad, how people can be mean to an innocent dog will never be something I can understand. I am SO SO SO glad she is with you now and you are being so attentive to what she has been through. She couldn't have a better mommy!

I just love hearing your updates, I wish we were closer and Koda could play with Bella and Tucker - she would love them!
