When we first got her, the crazy lady who lied a lot, told us she had a food allergy, but she was crawling with fleas and infection, so we figured all the hair loss was from that. She's going in to see our primary vet next week, I think Tuesday. I'm sure we are in for another round of antibiotics and antifungals. I feel like a neglectful owner, but I swear I'm washing her ears weekly, but in less than a week she built up the brown gook again. We thought the itching at first was from the electric heat being turned on, since all of us were itchy, but she's getting worse.
Miss sassy pants also didn't want to eat after her spay, so by Tuesday midnight, I was worried and got some canned food. She scarfed that right down, then refused to eat the regular dry food until dinner today. Now she won't eat out of her slow-down bowl. What a brat. It's like when our other dog won't take her pills with anything but peanut butter, not cream cheese, yogurt, pill pockets, ball of wet food, nope, only peanut butter.
I'm going to bring up the food thing with the vet. It'd be great if she could go on venison since that's one of the things the cat can eat (yeah, the cat has to eat Hill's z/d prescription food that runs $53 for an 8.5# bag), and not get hives and go bald on her face. She always tries to steal the dogs kibbles too, and the dogs let her... Wusses.
But the cone is helping with the licking/itching. She can't really eat her arms & side like she wants too, and boy does she want to lick the crap out of her stomach too. If you leave her without the cone and even walk into the kitchen, bam, she's face first in her belly licking and trying to chew. She also is unfortunately spending more time in her kennel than usual. She can't master walking with the cone and just dips her head, then the cone drags and she actually trips on it and does a sort of body slam/flip thing. So to avoid any further 'clumsiest dog in the world' incidents and her hurting her incision, she is in her kennel or we make her stay on a dog bed.
I guess I should get back to work at work. Will keep you posted on the girls.
