Well, after I lost the last one of my older huskies last yr I still had one young female left and I needed to get her a companion, my husband said he didn't want to get another husky so I asked him what breed he wanted and he said a purebred Golden puppy... as we all know they are not easy to come by in shelters... I looked on petfinder for 3 weeks before I saw this beautiful 6 month old Golden in the humane society in NJ I couldn't believe it, because over the last 10 yrs I have only seen older golden's for adoption and usually not in our area! I called them and they said oops we weren't supposed to post that till tomorrow...I asked if there was a waiting list for the puppy and she said no, long story short I bugged the life out of them that day calling numerous times to ask questions and have them email the application because the shelter was 2 1/2 hrs away and I wanted to make sure we got there on time to be the first in line...we were surprised that there was only one other person waiting to look at him, but we had already been chosen to adopt him! :D Buddha {formerly Skip} had been found roaming the streets, and no one came to claim him...he ended up being very sick for the first 6 weeks we had him, we weren't sure if he was gonna make it, but he pulled through and is a very happy and healthy boy now!!

What a great story, how lucky were you.........

Great to hear he made it through and is healthy now, he's beautiful.

I adopted my boy 5 years ago from my County shelter, he was 2, a stray but apparently belonged to someone at some point in time because he knew basic commands. He was underweight by 15-20 pounds. Took awhile to get the weight on him, he's about 75-78 lbs. now. I lost my girl in March that I had adopted from a GR Rescue, I'm looking for a fairly young girl but not a puppy and none are to be found right now. Kind of unusual too, I use to help with Intake for the GR Rescue I got her from and there were always Goldens in need........ the group closed down many years ago or I would go through them to get another one.

Really happy for you and Buddha.

Carolina Mom, I am so sorry for your loss...I lost my 2 female Siberians in the Spring of 2014 five weeks apart, that's when I went on Petfinder to find a companion for the male Sibe left behind {he was so devastated} I ended up finding Ava (formerly Polar) she is an Isabella white Sibe with Blue eyes an absolute love, so when it came time to find her a companion after my Jonah passed, I took to petfinder again and found Buddha...I feel so lucky to have found these two beautiful pups to help mend our broken hearts and fill a huge void from all the loss, they just get along so well and are so sweet together!!

Just want to say 'Thank you' for opening your heart and home (once again) to a rescued dog - they are absolutely the best dogs ever!! (I have two, who were 'meant to be' and fostered many.)
Buddha is a gorgeous pup and a lucky boy to have found his 'forever' with you.
