I guess it's time to re enter this forum, my puppy Tripp is 6 1/2 months old. He is a smart little devil and coming along nicely in his agility and obedience classes. We have introduced all the basic obedience things, plus lots of fun things. I especially love his attention during our mini heeling sessions, nice heads up, with a prance to his step, of course with the enticement of string cheese. And the most important thing is I am having a blast with him, he is a quick learner, and eager to please. Not sure what this year will bring as far as any competition yet, he is just a baby dog, but maybe after the first of the year he might be ready for beginner novice.

Working on cues/flatwork indoors since it's pouring down rain the next few days. It hasn't stopped raining buckets all day.

Just finished heeling and articles with Hombre and Nugget and for the most part I'm quite pleased other than Nuggets sloooow turns in place and leaving my side for articles the first time sent. A slap on his butt convinced him to be a little brisker. Both were sent twice for each articl and NO mistakes were made . Then out to the street heeling with circle r+l - fast - slow - halts - right and left turns and turns in place. Figure 8 done twice by each boy and happy to say heeling and fig8 were close to being flawless with only a small lag by Hombre on the outside turn of the fig8. Short session today but a good one ---- back yard is a mud pit leaving any jumping or for that matter any training out of the question.

Tripp had nosework and agility class today. In nosework scent is still paired with food, he is developing a good alert behavior, paw on odor. Agility class was fun, loves the tunnel, and does the teeter at a low height with a good wait at the end.

Tugg had a nosework class today too, so while he and my husband were in that class Tripp and I used the empty ring to practice a little obedience. I put him in a sit, and walked around the ring like you would in beginner novice. He didn't move, was steady as a rock. Then we did a little heeling, recalls and some short go outs to ring gates. Then we were both tired, lots of training for a puppy and for me.

Worked outside yesterday I was being pelted with chunks of ice blowing in the wind, today I was training my crew outdoors in a sweatshirt! Can we hope spring will stick atround?

Worked heeling, teeters, weaves, recalls, distant drops and zip Faelan, Towhee & Brady had signals and MSFE, while Aedan had moving drops and stands

Nice session

Life has gotten in the way, so we haven't been training much for the better part of the past year, but I think it's time to seriously start back to working toward the UD. We do a little here and there, but it's time to ramp it up. On another note, I just saw that my instructor won the NOC. Holy crap! Time to get back in there.

This morning we worked outside again

Heeling with signals for Faelan, Towhee & Brady (Aedan just had heeling) with multiple normal -> slow -> normal transitions
MSFE (no leaving for Aedan)
Sends to the weaves and then to the full height teeter (Aedan is not sticking his 2o2o so reinforcing that position)
Pivots to glove #3 and Glove #2 without gloves being out
Conditioned Emotional Response work for recalls - verbal & signal.

Fun

A week off: work got in the way. Classes start up again this week. Duster will be doing a "trick" class (to build on our "success" at learning to "shake a paw" after 14 months of failed attempts ...!) and will be continuing in agility. Jackie is going to start canicross with him, as soon as the ice has melted from the trails. And after proclaiming loudly that I would have to be tied up and put in a bag before I would ever compete in obedience, Duster and I will be doing our first rally-o trial in May ... he's so good at it, it just seems a pity not to try.
We also have two agility fun matches coming up, one next Sunday and the other in mid-May.

Christine

Ruby 13-01-2007 to 18-03-2015.
My dog of a lifetime. I'll miss you forever.

Headed up to Sunfire at lunch

Played with & trained Ms Finch, what a lovely girl she is! Did some heeling, marking, recalls, sitting and touch games as well as snuggles & laughter.

She did well with Mike yesterday at field training too! She will be going to a puppy stakes field trial this weekend with Mike too.

Towhee has almost enough points for her OS already! A UDX ( almost an OTCH son), a TDX UD (with a UDX leg already) son and most likely Brady when he completes his UD unless one of her other offspring beats Brady to the UD !
