I'm bummed out today because this week I had an opportunity to do two fun matches (one set up with times and rings and number of people as a real trial + one at a different location), as well as meeting up with friends to train.

Between work and me dealing with some bug (minor fever and sleepathon today) - I missed out on all of that.

Jan should be a quiet month. No obedience trials. Limited classes usually because of weather and or people being away.

I am working on our weak areas though throughout.

This morning we had some quick sessions

Finch: Reinforrcement Zone, Hand Touch, Sits, Downs (oops she forgot!), some short heeling & some recalls
Faelan: Heeling, signals (with cheese on floor to his side), 360 left & rights, fronts, scent articles -- really nice
Towhee: Heeling with fast pace to normal, 360 left & rights, fronts and scent articles -- really nice
Brady: Heeling, signals with cheese on floor -- he really had issues with this so I need to work it more -- 360s to the left & right and scent articles. Except for signals he did a really nice job.
Aedan: Heeling (nice), 360s to the right & left (nice), fronts (nice), drops from the front with food - he needs work on this bit I don't think it was the food, I think I need to work it more often and we finished with a small scent article pile -- he is not ready for me to take breaks from training this LOL

Overall, happy sessions, Now off for some hikes!

Articles w/both boys done twice each article . Well done even the turns in place were good and Hombre was 50/50 on straight turns and f+f. Each boy did long down stay when the other was working articles , both stayed. After articles Hombre and I worked the " take it.- hold it - out" exercise and today was quite good only mouthed the glove on the first one but he released it on my order every time so progress is being made. Club tonight after two weeks off looking forward to it.

Training went better at SCKC today at least with Nugget who only worked Open but he was excellent . We also had a few MSFE by various people no anticipation by either boy today. Now the other side of the coin Hombre who today would have NQ utility because he was given the #1 in the DR and instead went for #2 but I called him off with a loud NOOO and he came back to me , a repeat was done and it was a success. Tomorrow is spa day and they need it .

Last couple days no training, just threw Frisbees in the yard. Penny caught 4/6 throws yesterday, much better than usual. This is because I suck at throwing the discs, not because Penny can't catch.

First class at the new place. Not impressed with the way class is run - multiple dogs allowed loose to warm up on equipment at the same time. Honestly I was a bit shocked. I was told to warm Penny up and I thought the other dogs would be leashed - so wrong. She was on the dog walk and another dog trotted onto it and went nose to nose with her. Penny was amazing, sniffed the dog but no growling. Told the other owner she can be fear aggressive, guess they didn't believe me since they still left it loose. Before I could get her to a safe place it went up to her again and there were warning snaps. I don't blame her at all, my fault as a handler.

Next week at that place Penny will be crated unless needed to run a course. If this doesn't work, I'll just do the run throughs there since the last thing I need is her to be scared/insecure in the ring.

Penny was barking her head off in class today. I was told to stop completely, rest my hand on top of her muzzle and say enough. It worked really well, barking became almost non existent when we started doing that.

Leave its with Penny running full speed at her bumper, very nice responses.

I tried to see if Penny would bark in the backyard with three jump lead outs. One simple, one curved - never tried a lead out with curved jumps before and she took them perfectly. Wouldn't bark at all, maybe I need to take the jumps to a soccer field.
