Training Logs Feb 10-16 2013

Mid February and we have a whole lot of snow here in CT, which will be impacting my training plans.

So what is on everyone's training agenda?

Getting ready for Intermediate Obedience graduation on Thursday is going to be a challenge with the snow, sleet, and rain headed our way for the next two days. As I noted in the previous thread, it will be judged like a competition. Right now, I'm trying to prepare for not being able to use treats for the testing. This, once again, involves carrying treats in mouth for training. I'll be doing that right up to the point where we enter the ring for testing, and cross my fingers that she thinks I'm still carrying them. It worked for the beginner graduation. I'm a little nervous this time. I was last time too. She should do well, but you never know! One thing I do know, is that it's unlikely that the others will be as well prepared.

I was thinking about doing the show n' go in Hamden today but even though things are getting cleared here, decided we'd take a pass. Don't even know if they're having it. I think Hamden had 40" of snow?

All righty - enough!! Now the Sports Dome in Tolland has collapsed; There are agility trials scheduled there and multiple rings can be run. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Luckily the weather has been so foul, no one was in the dome! But I have several trials scheduled there ; a couple of my clubs too! grrrrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrr

We actually got out and did some heeling in the sleet. Also did a bunch of left and right circles, and a few recalls. We got pretty wet, but at least it's not too cold.

The crew got to enjoy couch time while their person was shoveling, and shoveling and then shoveling some more. Brady has decided zooming in the snow is a treat, Faelan keeps getting those snow balls, Casey & Towhee are going out but then coming right back in and overall I would say....

Whoever likes snow, come on over - we even had to shovel the roof - plenty of the cold white stuff around here. Oh wait, it supposed to sleet and rain tomorrow so 1/2 to 1 inch of rain being absorbed by 32+ inches of snow - even more lovely.

There is a Facebook cartoon going around the sums it up:

Gotta poop, Gotta poop, Gotta poop
Where the Hell am I supposed to poop?

My week will be agility class, one jump work at home, and then an agility private on Saturday. I will be figuring what agility trials to enter this week, since Filly is now NADAC, and CPE registered along with her UKC, and AKC. I am also considering registering with USDAA.
