When I know I will be using a lot of treats, I will bake up chicken, steak, liver or sometimes even turkey with garlic. These would be human grade cuts of meat. Baked for about 20-30 minutes at 350 and the dogs love it!

We did a lot of loose leash stuff....1/4 turns, slow heeling in the house with emphasis on attention, etc., two down stays, a sit stay and a stand stay. A pretty light day. The E-collar I ordered came today. I'm just going to have her wear it at times for the next few days, without turning it on. I'll put it on before we take our walk after I finish typing this. To those of you who have used these....short contact points, or long with a Golden? I bought a Tri-Tronics. By the way, I shocked myself dozens of times to see what it feels like. The dial goes up to 5 in half step increments. In other words, 10 levels. Made it all the way up to 4. Wow. We won't be using that level with Bella. 1.5 to 2 will probably do it. Feels like a tickle. Even my 8 yr old daughter was able to keep her hand on it at 2. It definitely gets your attention, but doesn't hurt one bit.

I have a Tri-Tronics and I put the long contacts on because of all the hair you have to get through to contact the skin. I typically don't have to raise the power past a 2 level. Jonah wears his to the beach or lake and sometimes around the house.

She's at 1.5. I decided to just start using it tonight. I've read enough and watched enough videos online. Did a few sits before we went out for our walk, just to get her used to it. Walked about 3 miles on the flat collar. She pulled 3-4 times, and each time, I said " no pulling" and hit the continuous button until she slowed down. I've said " no pulling" thousands of times, so its not like I'm teaching a new skill here. I didn't have to do it for the rest of the walk. A few times, I gave her the verbal warning, and that's all it took.

For the past several days, she's had to be leashed in the back yard because she was chewing and swallowing small sticks, so I decided to give it a whirl and let her run around with the e-collar. I only had to say leave it 3 times, only once hitting the continuous button. She ran around for about 20 minutes straight without putting a single thing in her mouth. "Leave it" is also not a new command for Bella. LOL. I see this no differently than giving a correction with a leash. I think problems arise when someone doesn't learn how to use it before the strap it on. In addition, I don't think I would want to teach commands with the collar on.

One more question, if you don't mind. How tight should that collar be? Obviously, you want contact with the skin, but it seems like the contacts would be a little uncomfortable on the neck. How many fingers can you fit under the collar on your dog? Thanks.

We got our training session out of the way early because I'll be at a scout camp later with my son. We did a bunch of off leash heeling in the house with emphasis on 1/4 turns along with a few stays. We don't have anything new to work on right now, we just need to clean a few things up. Seems to be going well.

We walked about 1.5 miles with the ecollar without a single correction (not even a verbal) needed for pulling. That is remarkable. I also let her run in the back yard for 10 minutes without even having to say "leave it." Apparently, she got the message. I'm stunned at how effective it has been at this point.

I should also mention that lots of praise and rewards in the form of kibble has been part of this. I believe that to be critical.

At first, I cinched the collar up like you would a saddle on a horse.Initially, I could squeeze only one finger through the collar. It is tight but that made it fair to Jonah to feel the pulse going through the electrodes. It is a great training tool for those behaviors you want to change without nagging your dog to death. I find the collar a miracle worker as you are beginning to see.
