Something I do with my pups is to sit and watch TV and every time a commercial comes on, I make them do something. For my 5 mo old I am working on going from down to sit. So during commercials I make her sit, down, sit, down, sit, down, sit, down. I take it slow and keep it focused. Then when the commercials are over... it's back to playtime/rest. I love it because she can easily focus for the 2-3 minute commercials and I'm not frustrated by the end of it!

Don't be embarrassed, it's usually US who needs the help!
That's probably the instructor's tactful way of showing you what you do wrong w/out embarrassing you in front of the whole class :-)
