Emotional Support Animal? I suffer from documented depression and anxiety. Funny that Ellie is the same, but we are helping each other through. I am wondering what is involved if you have this experience.

I haven't heard of this as a specific designation here in the US. There are therapy dogs and service dogs. The role you're describing would probably fall in the service dog category. Both of our Goldens have been unofficial emotional support animals for the whole family and any one else who wanted it.

Aren't they all? =). Thanks...my niece had her dogs certified as she is a combat veteran. It gives them certain rights for housing and flying.

Lincoln is an ESA. In Ontario, Canada they hold the same rights as a service dog as far as housing goes. Only difference is service animals are granted public access (into stores, malls, Government buildings) and ESA's are for at home and in general public, they do not have public access rights.

Lincoln would of been a full service dog like my previous two dogs were had he not of had temperament issues. My next one will be a service dog (Psychiatric Service Dog).
