| Do Therapy Dogs have a normal life? When Logan and I go on a hospital visit, we get asked all kinds of questions. Some questions are: Where does Logan live? Does Logan get to play with other dogs? Does he get to go to the beach, mountains, etc...? When we first became a hospital therapy team I thought that these questions were kind of odd; but a lot of people, and in particular hospital patients believe that these therapy dogs belong to the hospital, and we are simply volunteers who walk them around the hospital. Thanks to the iphone, I'm able to capture images of Logan when he's not doing his hospital duties. The answer to some of the questions are: Logan is my dog, my best friend, my constant companion... I take him on at least two walks every day, rain or shine. I take him with me whenever I am able to. I have my own business and Logan usually sits in on most meetings, or he at least greets the client when they arrive. We go on hikes in the local mountains, we go to a great dog beach (located in Huntington Beach, CA). At the local park near our house, there is a day care center with several animals running inside their yard. Recently, I noticed a chicken walking around. Logan has never seen a chicken before. Having a therapy dog is very rewarding, especially when you can put a smile on a face that hasn't had one recently. When I read the post on this forum about Tess and Zoe in Sandy Hook, they get double thumbs up from me. I'm sure this team did a lot of good for the people of this town. Attached are two images taken a few days ago. One is Logan nose, to beak with his new friend the chicken, another image of Logan looking over the park, and one image of Logan at UCLA hospital, on assignment. I hope everyone has a wonderful NEW YEAR! |

| To Jimla Jim I see that you are in Central Oregon. Where exactly are you? I'm part of the PAC (People Animal Connection) at UCLA and the director of our program recently resigned and moved to Bend Oregon. He's a really great guy, someone you might want to meet someday. Rodger |

| I checked out the People Animal Connection website. That looks like a wonderful program. I am a member of Compassionate Canines of Central Oregon, an affiliate of Pet Partners (formerly Delta Society). We live 23 miles South of Bend and go on weekly visits to the hospital in Bend. If you would like to correspond, send me a private message.
