That's beautiful tribute to Sam. Very, very familiar story to the last moment I lived thru 18 and half months ago. I am very sorry for your loss, I feel your pain as my own. I wish it wasn't their time to leave us but sadly it was. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers at this hard time.

I am so sorry for your loss of Sam. He sounded like a special furbaby!

My two previous Goldens were named "Sam", the second one in honor of the first who died at 5 1/2 years old. Both died of cancer as well.

I am so sorry for your loss of beautiful Sam, your story moved me to tears also - I can see what a very special boy he was. Your story is so familiar to me too. We lost our 3yr old golden Daisy 11 months ago and her illness caused her to age about 10 years in the space of 2 weeks it's just heartbreaking to see them helpless.

I can see from your story too that Sam loved you as much as you loved him, and in the end you gave him the final gift of love by freeing him from his pain and taking the pain on yourself. We all understand what you're going through, so stick around and you'll get lots of support. Feel free to share special stories and photos of him. Remember that he'll always be watching over you. Take care.

Sam was beautiful, and such a wonderful story about him! As others have said, we know your shock, pain and sadness over his loss. I hope you know we are there for you, many of us are still grieving for our beloved dogs too. You take it one day at a time...cry when you need to, talk about him all you want, and come back to this forum often. It will help tremendously. Take care...HUGS
