Question Donut`s Tail is always down, is this normal ?

Hello everyone

donut just turned 11 month old today and for last 9.5 months this forum helped me alot. everyone out here is soo amazingly helpful.

recently i met 2 goldens in my city and noticed that both of them have tail which always remain up and from day 1 donut`s tail is facing downwards. i spoke with my breeder and he said this is normal, i have taken a appointment with vet for Monday but i am really worried about it and thought to ask here with fellow members.

i look forward for your inputs.

My last girl always held her tail high, she was just a very happy looking, bouncy girl. My older golden's tail is always down.. it's not that she isn't happy it's just her comfort level. My current girl always carried her tail down and was a little sad as I really liked the "happy" tail. Somewhere around the one year mark her tail came up. It still is level with her body when we walk but let a squirrel run by or throw a frisbee and up it comes. I guess each one carries their tail where it's the most comfortable or level of excitement?
As long as they can wag their tail I'm sure all is well.

If you have a picture of what you mean by down - go ahead and post it?

Can tell you then whether it's correct or not.

Goldens should not carry their tails up over their backs.. and curled up is even worse.

When moving, their tails should extend straight out behind them. Sometimes a little higher isn't horrible, but too high to straight up in the air, isn't good.

Some dogs when excited or happy carry their tails high.

When just hanging out or standing, the tails generally hang down behind them in a relaxed way (not tucked between legs).

Tired dogs will not carry their tails out too much when moving.
