I remember finding out the day he was born and now he's 3 months old!! They grow so fast - already 23 pounds. Is that about the average size at 3 months?
Ok, I have a question for all you awesome people. Grizzly has one eye that seems to water more/has more of a stain than the other eye. He's a really light golden, so the staining is more apparent. Is this normal? He has his vet appointment on Monday and we will be sure to ask, I just always appreciate everyone's advice. Nothing seems to bother him about it.
Three months today and he's busier than I ever imagined, a nut who tries to make us laugh and a mellow yellow dog who is so calm and chilled out. All in one.
I occasionally take him when I drop off my kiddos at school - and to pick them up. I am AMAZED at how we get mobbed, everyone loves a golden retriever - I had no idea. We've had to make a plan just so we're not spending 20 extra minutes at the end of the day getting mobbed. But he's sure getting socialized. Our trainer taught us to hold a treat between our finger tips, let him nibble it but never give him the whole treat and keep him "down" while people pet him. After a 30 seconds we tell people thank you for petting our dog and move on. I'm also asking people to not pet him and then have him practice sit and stay on a leash (with a gazillion treats) while people are flocking around us. Not easy, especially when he's not hungry, but I'm trying!!
He's doing pretty good on walks. Like I mentioned in other posts, we walk for about 3/4 of a mile in the morning. Just in the neighborhood. All of the dogs he's met have been super awesome, most are on leashes - a few aren't. That walk wipes him out, but boy does he love getting out and smelling everything. His nails are nice and short from the sidewalk walks. They are easy and fun walks, no running (yet - I can't wait to have him run with me when he's 18-24 months) and just nice to let him see cars, trucks, lawn mowers and other loud vehicles.
The beef bladders, grass fed organic, have been a life saver these past few days. He's sooooo chewy but these keep him busy and that's what we need. I need to buy a Kong! I can't believe I don't have a Kong!!! What do you put in your Kong??
He's a good little guy - we are so thankful he picked us! Anything interesting to expect now that he's 3 months old and coming out of shell? I'd love to hear what other people noticed around the 3 to 4 month age.
Thanks for letting me ramble. :smile2:
