We picked our puppy today!
The day that I've been waiting for finally came! We drove out to our breeder's home and visited the puppies...I was not prepared for just how adorable they are.
We had pick of the (males) litter and it was fairly easy after some time spent with them to decide against two of the four. I spent a good couple of hours with the last two-checking everything I knew to check, watching them, watching them interact with the people in the house and other dogs, and interacting with them. 1 was light, the other darker. The lighter male (Mr. Pink) just captured my heart from the start. He was curious, confident, and the most adventurous. He was wagging his tail constantly-just a doll. Kind of goofy. Couldn't quite get traction on the hardwood floors. Lots of bifs. Walked right into a storage cart in the kitchen noggin' first-jumped around like a doofus, tail still wagging after. Was fine when flopped onto his back and held there gently, keys and water bottles dropped on the floor was noticed but didn't phase him. Lots of kisses. 1 little growl at absolutely nothing in the wind. More kisses and tail wags. The darker brother (Mr. Green) was more reserved. He was obsessed with licking my chin. Lots of little bites from him. He looks like a fuzzy little teddy bear, lighter pup not as much. What really made it difficult is that we stayed for nap time, and I picked up Mr. Green and rocked him while talking to our breeder for a good half hour. He was just content as could be. But lighter pup crawled on my lap later for a nap after darker pup was handed off to my husband still asleep and when I said his name, he looked up at me for a moment-then put his head in my lap and fell asleep. I tried putting him on the floor to finish his nap, and he would have none of it. Climbed back in my lap...and that was it. Mr. Pink's new name is Bodhi.
I wish I'd have gotten pictures before they fell asleep, but was too focused on the goings on and puppy cuteness. I promise they're not as lethargic as they look here. They are only 5.5 weeks...so I guess sleepy puppy pictures are a pretty accurate portrayal at this point.
And look at that zipper nose on Bodhi...adorable.
