Hey guys! Just to pupdate you all, Charlie was indeed underweight. We took her to the vet, and she was underweight and dehydrated + also has worms (tapeworms) and giardia. Poor little thing. She's now on a special diet to put on some weight (we are giving her dry food [wellness grain free puppy food) + a bit of Urgent Care a/d with chicken + EnerCal high calorie nutritional supplement as advised by vet + she was dewormed again for the tapeworms + is on panacur c for the giardia.

Full disclosure - we got her from a craigslist post. Just want to be open about this because I know there are a lot of people on here who would have highly advised against this. The way we see it, we rescued her, and we are going to alert the humane society so that this guy can be shut down. He is a young guy who has 6 adult goldens who didn't look like they were being given the love and care they deserve, and clearly he didn't give the puppies the care they needed. The mother was also only 1.5 years old, which to my understanding is too young really.
I'm telling you all this to be up front and would really appreciate if people held back any judgment - we fully understand that he was dodgy, and knew from the start we would be rescuing her from a bad situation. It makes me happy to know we are going to nurse her back to health and give her a great life and I can only hope for the same for the rest of the litter.

Charlie is a wonderful little gal, she's gaining weight and is doing well - a bit more energetic now and puppy like the day we took her to the vet she was verrryyyy sleepy, and we know that it's probably coz the yucky things in her tummy were taking her energy away from her!

Anyway, now that that's all out of the way, I look forward to chatting to you all in the future about her progress and sharing pics.

Two quick questions I have right now:
1) what is the best way to clean her ears?
2) we've been using baby wipes to clean her bottom after she does her business because I know that's there's a high risk of reinfection with giardia. Also cleaning her paws. I read that this is okay but just want to know if anyone can assert that baby wipes won't be harmful to her skin or dry out her fur?

Thank you!
Have a nice day!

So glad she is on the mend. I hope they shut that person down and take the dogs. No judgement here. She is in a lovely home now and will have a nice life. Just curious no judgement but how much did this person charge for these pups?

I'm glad to hear she's on the mend I don't know about the baby wipes as we bought some earthbath brand puppy wipes since I was unsure of them as well in anticipation for our new puppy.

Can't wait to see pictures of her as she puts on more weight, she really is a cutie!

We used baby wipes for sensitive skin (non-scented). I just used the grocery store brand. Had no problems. Glad she's on the mend!
