I did not take pictures today but went up to Sunfire to see how my new puppy (Bang x Towhee) is.
A different adventure for me since she will live with Barb & Mike who will be training her for field. I will be training her for obedience & agility and co-own her.
What a perfect love! She has substance, a loving temperament, a wonderful coat already and a calmness to her I would not have expected in a dog so young and with her parents. Focus and a drive to work & play. And funnily enough, she was one of the dogs barking when I pulled in !
Today was just greeting, playing and getting to know her a bit, but honestly, I am already in love with her she mouths very gently (she wrapped her mouth around my wrist a few times but I felt no teeth), retrieves her toy and just seems confident in herself already.
What a cutie, congratulations. I love the picture of her on her back, getting her belly rubbed. So much happiness in that face. She is very fortunate to be working with you.
A few things she was introduced to (more than I normally do in a session but I will try to make the minutes count )
- clicker equals food (chicken)
- its yer choice
- sitting equals click equals chicken
- walking on left equals click equals chicken
- get it, come game (will be expanded but for now a short toss, mark, get it, Finch come)
Given her field work, I will spend more time on sit & mark than I might normally.
I will also pack a Klimb platform and introduce her to that.
It was fun and my hands are not even scratched she is quick !
And adorable.
A friend may be bringing her to a match that I cannot go to and Barb & Mike cannot attend. A local golden club but I have obedience trials and Barb & Mike have travel plans. Our friend would show her in 'snack class' aka conformation but mostly to get her around the whole ring environment.
Headed up again today and I think she recognized my Xterra
Sitting at the gate like a little angel, not a peep out of her .... Well until we had a bit of a walk and she found something to bark at - perhaps the spaniel upland hunt training going on in some neighboring fields? Luckily after we worked and played since she also found something to roll in ... She's her mama's daughter
We again practiced sit no jump, clicker, walking on my left, we advanced its yer choice and recall games, and just spent some time cuddling.
She really is adorable
She calms right down with tummy or head rubs, can easily handle various body parts being handled (ears, muzzle, feet, tail, flanks etc)
I will need to sit down this weekend and plan out some things... Oh, yeah she also sits in front of the gate to come out or go in.
Reviewing a few things (AgilityNation) at lunch today reminded me that I have also begun left & right spins with Finch she does not seem to favor one way over the other.
